Re: BARCLAY Adverse Action (AA) Question !!

Hey all -- this question mainly applies to anyone who has experienced BARCLAY AA ..  I am so nervous about it after reading all these threads!  Here's my story .. App'd for APPLE VISA in November, denied.. my score is not good at all, mid 560-570 FICO, but mostly due to very old collections aging off in about 3-6 months from now, and is improving monthly.  For the past 3 years, all trade lines are very + and that is why on RECON (after 3 attempts) I was approved with a $700 line, then manually CLI to $1,500 last week!!  (A Soft pull was used)..Rep stated all my credit over the past few years has been excellently handled, etc -- all true.  I have many student loans (ALL CURRENT), an auto loan 2 years in 100% current, and 2 other credit cards 100% current with UTIL under 45-50%.

My statement closes tomorrow, and it seems that most who experience a CLD or closure, get these AA around statement time - any truth to this?  Coincidence ? I want to know the truth behind Barclay AA, not just horror stories.. Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated! I want to have all my ducks in a row.  Currently, my balance is $711 on a $1500 line, reporting tomorrow I think (they said my statement closes 1/24) ?  Thank you in advance, Credit Zooms !

I don't have statistics on it, but Barclays has a reputation for credit limit decreases where the card is used too much or too little, or where a person adds a number of new cards.

So if you value your relationship with Barclays and want to see it grow, the best bet is to keep your average balance in the 20 to 35% range, pay down fast, and go slowly in applying for new cards.

Re: BARCLAY Adverse Action (AA) Question !!

I'm at a loss to understand why people post on 8 month old threads.  It just clutters the board and there are plenty of up to date ongoing threads to participate in.

Strangely, I've had new accounts since I opened up my Barclay card and not a single case of AA against me from them. That ended up being Citi and I was fine until I tried to get a third card from them which was a store card.

Seems like Citi, Chase are shutting down people more lately.

I think only when there are other risk factors involved.  But it's why I stopped after Amazon Chase card, and will only work on cli's, PC, and apr reductions for most of year.  If your income supports your portfolio, and/or you weed out the cards you no longer want, and don't build a ton of balance carrying, you should be fine.

for those of us with lower income (though that should change in a few months for moi), can always request cld's ourselves.  But my total credit doesn't even match my annual income yet, not even half.  Build it slowly, and they will come?

I would never ask for a CLD. They'll give it to you and then you wont ever get a CLI again..
