I prequalified online for all 3 BB&T cards online. I went to the branch and applied. I have a fraud alert on my credit file. I was approved $4,000 SL. I received the card in yesterday's mail. I called to activate it. It activated. The card showed $0 available. I was told I needed to speak to another department. I went to the branch and they called and transferred the nice banker to another department. All the woman said was, "We've exercised our right to close your account!" I asked her why? And she told me, "in the card member agreement we put in there that we can close your account at any time for any reason and we are exercising our right to do so!" Lol I am pretty understanding I would have liked to know why. Anyway, I'll close my checking name savings with them. I think my new PNC Cash rewards (was BBVA Cash) is better anyway.
Sorry to hear about your recent Truist experience. I suppose the outcome is odd given you applied directly with the branch so this would definitely confirm your identity, if anything. But, stranger things have happened!
Sounds like something internally must've triggered the action, but I suppose we'll never know. There are older threads (pre-Truist merger) where folks' pre-approvals (which led to subsequent approvals) that were rescinded for one reason or another, mostly pointing to verification instances.
Sorry about this. If you dont get a letter as to why exercise your right to demand a reason by filing a complaint with the CFPB.
I'm not sure what their problem is. I did the SP prequalification online then applied with my banker in the branch. I got an instant approval. I froze my credit reports back. My guess is maybe they tried to do a HP or another SP and couldn't. I did request a $3,000 balance transfer. After this, I called BECU's lending center and asked about opening a low rate card (in addition to my $7,500 Cb visa) and I got an instant approval for $5,000 with 0% for a year and 13.49% thereafter. I love BECU and they've earned all my business.
Truist, BB&T and Suntrust can ALL go away lol
