Citi Best Buy Visa Card

So I had a Best Buy visa that I let go bad in 2019 issued by Citi. I'm currently rebuilding. The collection for it is showing on my credit report but not the charged account. Question 1.) is citi more lenient with retail cards on reapplying? 2.) does me going bad on the retail side affect the legacy side? Citi double cash, custom cash, secured card, etc.?? Should I

Total Credit Limit : $29,600

I had to read your post several times as I was in total shock that such a question would be asked.

You did not pay Citi two years ago yet you want to apply with them again. This time maybe for a higher end card.

With what you disclosed on here I do not think Citi would even give you a secured card at this point. This would hold true at most large banks that issue cards as well

Thanks for the post.

Re: Citi Best Buy Visa Card

Citi Retail can be lenient to a certain extent.  Was the Citi BBY ever paid or is there still  an outstanding balance?  I mean, if you apply, keep in mind that 2019 is fairly recent by any standards and they likely still have an internal record of the charged-off account.

Depending on where you are in your rebuild journey, I'd hold off on any Citi legacy cards until your profile has improved considerably.  You can share more about your accounts, any negatives, your FICO scores, AAoA, etc., to provide more feedback on things.

@Anonymous - let's refrain from judgemental comments. There's an FSR policy on the forums for a reason.

The OP had a legitimate question for the community to provide them some feedback.  How about providing a helpful and meaningful answer so we can steer them in the right direction.

You'd be wrong as many of folks (myself included) burned lenders via non-payment/bankruptcy and many of us are back in with those very same lenders.  I filed BK13 many years ago and I burned CapOne, GE/Synchrony, Chase (via Providian/Wamu), etc and I'm back in with every lender that was included in my bankruptcy with the exception of Barclays.

So yes, there's life with lenders even after hardship.  The OP had a legitimate question and your assumption about "most large banks' isn't quite right.

It's a totrally valid question.  But yeah, if you burned Citi only two years ago I'd hold off on any new apps.  Time heals most wounds, but this one is still a bit fresh.

You had a BK so the debt was either wiped off or included in a

payment plan. That is not the same as just not paying or ignoring the dept. In many cases with a discharged BK you can apply with Citi and stand a good chance of approval.

Thanks
