I guess I will use the BBVA card for groceries this month. The BCP is getting downgraded to BCE when my AF posts this month so this is nice.

Awesome! DW has groceries set as 3X (mainly for in store Walmart purchases) and I have mine set at 2X, so they are both effectively the same rate for us.

Yeah mine is set as my 3X so they're giving a 3X bonus which is nice.

This card has been SD'd the last two months so I will go ahead and use it.

Did you have groceries set as a 2X or 3X category? That's why I always have groceries set to one or the other because they offer bonuses on groceries a few times a year.

Hey @Anonymous ,

No I use other cards for groceries.  It's good to know though that BBVA will super boost this category if one has selected it in the past.

It's not that they will do it if you selected it in the past. They're technically offering 3X bonus points but it stacks on top of your base earning. 1X = 4X, 2X = 5X, 3X = 6X.

Only have had this card since March so I am still on the learning end with how BBVA operates.  (Shout out to @JNA1  for his advice back in March to go for this card.)

So these 3X point bonuses seem to only be revealed the day of?  It is unlike Chase or Discover who advertise their straight bonus categories in advance.

Yeah these are special bonus categories, not rotating ones. They're targeted offers and some people never get them for whatever reason where I think I've gone 3 or 4 months in the 22 months I have had the card without one.

Re: BBVA ClearPoints categories

Just to clarify is this on top of my 3x Groceries that's set up ? so that means I'll get 7x total?

At the bottom of the image it states they will add 3 bonus points on top of your picked category. So for me I didn't pick a category yet and got the exact same promotion. But then I picked groceries for my 3x category so now I'm expecting to get x6 total.

As another data point I really don't use this card besides these targeted offers.

PNC Pointless: $6900 | Amex Blue Cash Preferred: $6000 | Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Signature Card: $5000 | AOD Visa Signature: $5000 | Discover IT Cash Back: $3700 | Ollo Optimum: $2600 | Citi Double Cash: $2500 | Capital One Walmart: $300
US Bank Cash+: $1000 | Capital One Savor One: $2500 | Chase Freedom: $500 | Quicksilver: $300
