I'll eat my words!! Went to make my first charge at Ralph's for $293. DENIED! Called the idiots at BBVA and all he said is "your account is under review and charging is suspended". I asked for a Manager and "there isn't one for this Department, they'll be in tomorrow morning." I just activated it yesterday (Wednesday), no clue why they couldn't mention something then.
Fortunately my REAL Amex SPG bailed me out.oh NO!!!! ugh!! this isnt good at all.....
I predict several of these posts coming, after they have "reviewed" the approvals again. This is really disappointing!! Im so sorry to hear that B!! PLease keep us posted on what you find out, ;(
This is reminding me a little of the Duck and Diners. A few did survive the cards being intact from that, but several got clipped.
I don't think I was around here much with Diners shutdowns, but I remember when the Duck and Beaver cards were getting closed/CLD. There were almost as many posts as when the card first gained traction on here!
I hope these are isolated incidences, and not the bank realizing they bit off more than they could chew with all of the apps they received. So many people were excited to be approved for it.
B335is sorry this happened to you glad you had the ol trusty real deal AMEX to save the day. Hopefully this is just something that triggered fraud erroneously.
Seems to me that this is the reason why apping for a card simply because everyone is getting high limits is a silly decision. Always funny to see the same people who preach "Only app for a card if you need it" jump on these cards trying to get their 15 minutes of fame. Then they realize they gave out way too much money and start to backtrack.

Do you have any proof to back up that statement? Do you work for BBVA? Two isolated incidents and you now know the real reason?
For one, I didn't apply due to high SL. Secondly, One7 had an approval right before B335is, their CLs were about the norm. It wasn't until I posted my approval thread when these approvals started to get nuts (for whatever reasons folks viewed their opportunity). My card and others are still working without issues.
So, before you point out non-fact based information, let's get the real story from the individuals whose accounts were suspended.

OCCU at least let me make a charge. Maybe if this POS doesn't pass their crack team review I can fight to not let it report.
