I try to look for patterns or common denominators, so I wondered if the three account closures were all ones who were not instantly approved and had to call in for verification? I'm pretty sure I saw B335 had to call in before approval.

Msbia,   I was not instantly approved.    BBVA did phone me though about 60 minutes after I submitted the application and asked me some verification questions.    I was emailed the next day about the approval and then phoned in just to find out starting credit limit.

Hi Chief, thank you for answering. So that makes two. Like you, I had to go through verification. I had turned my phone off to sleep but woke to a VM from BBVA rep; I called the next day, answered some questions and was told 5-7 days, called back and told 7-10 day letter, called the next morning and approved. So if this indeed a trend or pattern forming I'm waiting for my turn lol. I plan to call tomorrow morning and be proactive just to see what they say. I don't care if they close the card or not, I'm just not a fan of surprises. Got the card for the NBA (Heat!!!) logo so it was definitely a vanity app, not a necessity. Thanks again.

Bad word choices. Didn't know that this would be so incendiary when I posted this. I assumed everyone knew what I meant when I posted this. Of course, the freezing of one bureau for the lender to pull another is something that myFICO cannot condone.

Key words that should have been added are in red. Smiley Wink

Shogun said it perfectly. I try to be a friendly, neighborhood mod, too... sometimes my delivery must seem like I'm not. Apologize if anyone thought that I was targeting them. That's certainly not the case.

Its prohibited to talk about freezing a report to make a lender pull another lender? XD bahahaha Smiley Tongue

I think a bank that spends billions of dollars on sponseerships and advertisements can handle a few millions in credit cards . The problem here isn't about them "biting off more than they can chew" .

GUYS! Stop getting your account closed or they are going to charge us a "someone else had their account closed so we are going to charge you a fee" fee lolSmiley Very Happy They really do charge for everything. I promise you guys you aren't losing a whole lot by not having their card.

Ditto this.  I saw nothing appealing about this card.  Now, they closed it out to most states.  They "may" not have bit off more than they can chew, but fed regulations limits the exposure of credit risk per bank size.  And they seem to be shady in a few other aspects of their business policies (maybe the cfpb is cracking down? Can only speculate.)

I am lost to why.   The day I applied,  someone even phoned me to verify things and I was approved the next day.   The pulled experian for me.   I live in Northwest Pennsylvania as well so it's not like I can just go to a branch to complain.

I will wait for the letter and depending on what it says,  I will decide then whether to close account and fight to have all info about this card removed from my credit reports as well.

I just wanted to give an update.    I have phoned BBVA Compass three times today about the suspended account.    I have basically wasted 4 hours of my life today talking to different people and getting different stories and wasing time on hold.     Last night I was told tha the account was "under review"  and I would receive a letter about it.    This morning being not happy about that answer I phoned back and a seemingly nice lady explained that there was suspected fraud on the account and that is why it was suspended.   She then transferred me to the fraud department I believe.  After being on hold about 93 minutes a southern sounding lady got on the line then it went DEAD and no one was there.   I then called back from my cell and this time after being given the Fraud department line,  the gentleman transferred me to that department, and I was disconnected after 70 minutes of being on hold.   I then called the phone number the gentleman gave me and I received the number is not in service.   Mind you,  I read the number back to the gentleman twice to ensure I wrote it down correctly and both times he said that was the number.    Anyway,  I called another time and asked to be transferred and again afer about 70 minutes on hold I was disconnected.   I then figured out it may of been my cell provider discconecting the call that was on hold.

I then phoned back one last time and spoke to another gentleman about all of this that has happened today.      He then looks over the account and says it was not the Fraud that put the account on suspension,  but the back office.   At this point I was boiling.    I asked how can three differenct people read the same account screen and tell me different things.    He then suggested I was not phoning the same department.    I then told him just to close the card because it was not worth the anxiety and that wanted a letter stating it was closed.    I called their customer service hideous.   He said he would submit the request.

Good luck to everyone else that has this card.   My card was placed on suspension on the 14th.  I used the card with no issue on the 12th, spending $213.    I am still not sure why it was suspended and now I frankly do not care.    Maybe it was something I did with other card approvals.    This weeked I spend about 3K on my Citi Prestige to meet the spend threshold without any issue and will pay that off by the end of the week once all the transactions post.

Sorry for writing a small novel.

I like novelsSmiley Wink  Such an atrocious behaviour is uncalled for.  4 hours of your life you can't get back.  I applied also and will see how it holds up.  Sorry it happened to you.

Good luck to you.

Ugh, sorry they were jerking you around so much. That really sucks. I had a similar experience (not with a CC) but I was told multiple things by different people regarding the same issue. They all said, "well the notes on your account say..." Well, you all must be making up the notes as you go along!

Re: BBVA NBA Account Suspended!

I used my card yesterday for the first time.  Ran about $400 with no issues.  I did not go through any verification, and was instantly approved.
