@cr101 wrote:The article says that we'll hear more in Aug and the conversion's slated for Oct. So bummed. I just got the card and don't want a 'new acct' on my reports. Any idea how they handled past acquistions/conversions? What are the chances that this won't be a 'new' account with the bureaus?
PNC acquired National City around 2008 and nothing happened (i.e.accounts reporting as new). While it's too early too tell what the outcome will be, it's doubtful that PNC acquiring BBVA will result in accounts reporting as new. What is most concerning for a lot of members who have the ClearPoints and/or Rewards CCs (even Select) is how those particular products will be aligned or integrated into the PNC family of cards. So, we'll just have to wait and see how that will pan out.
Come to think of it, I had a National City, LifeSprings Visa that changed to a PNC points something card but kept the same points structure. I did not report as a new line. That is ancient history though.

Well, it looks like the BBVA prequal is the first victim of the PNC buyout! 😞
I really hate that, because I really like lenders that at least give you an idea of where you stand. Hopefully PNC will bring it back across the board on their credit card products, but I'm not holding my breath. 🤷🏻♂️

So sad.
I had been checking that prequal tool a lot and was going to app for another card. Last used it a few days ago, but you can't even apply for cards on the site anymore. I hope that they're not more conservative than BBVA. But, this may be for the best. I don't like the idea of having multiple cards with the same lender.

I have a BBVA card and a PNC card... PNC gave me a higher SL. Both pull EX on applications but PNC is SP for CLI's.
I'd say things are going in a positive direction ![]()

I hate to say it, but for me at least, PNC was way more conservative. PNC gave me a $5K SL while BBVA gave me a $15,300 SL. In the same timespan my BBVA CL now has a $25K CL and my PNC card CL is now $10,500.
One advantage is that PNC does give SP CLIs.

How come? I like having multiple cards with the same lender that way I don't have 1 card per lender to login and such lol.

My own experience was the reverse, FWIW. No complaints about BBVA but I went from $0 to $65K in CL with PNC in about 18 months.
I just hope PNC doesn't convert the ClearPoints card to their Points card. I do get get good value from my PNC Cash Rewards, but their Points card is literally one of the worst rewards cards out there at .8 cent cash back redemption.
Hopefully they use BBVA's card lineup to strengthen their overall lineup. If PNC offered their current Cash Rewards, a version of the ClearPoints, and the 2% flat BBVA Rewards card, they'd have one awesome lineup.

Exactly what I am hoping for. Between PNC and BBVA ClearPoints is the best card.
To me a major advantage of PNC is PNC allows product changes, and that will go a long way help keeping cards useful as our needs change.
