Does Instacart code normally code at the 6% grocery or is it a 1%? Also does it matter if i use Google Pay versus entering the card info normally? I've had no problems at any grocers for in person transactions. I only use Instacart maybe once a month, but noticed my delivery from Harris Teeter using Google Pay only got 1%.
Yes, IC is an Amex "supermarket" bonus category merchant. I last got 4x on Gold on Dec 5.
I've even had Costco.com "Same-Day Delivery Powered By Instacart" orders count for the supermarket bonus category.
Everything on Instacart is going to code as grocery, including Best Buy 🤷♀️
I don't have BCP but my daughter does and it's trippy like that

I kind of wonder what sorts of things people get on Instacart from Best Buy.
I'm fine with trusting a stranger's discretion in choosing the freshest salad greens. But stuff from Best Buy would mostly seem to fall into the categories of:
1. Things I can buy online and get shipped without urgency, and
2. Things I need to replace immediately, for which I want to go into a store and examine my options in detail
I suppose IC could be useful if I urgently needed to buy something larger than would fit in my car. An errant indoor football breaking a big TV before a Superbowl party, perhaps? But picking up a big one would seem to require two people and a big vehicle, and AFAIK there's no way to request that in particular on IC.
Looks like I need to either call or chat with them since it's the only grocery purchase I've made that didn't get marked with the 6%.
Yelp everything I ever buy on instacart with BCP is coded as grocery as well.
It may be because you're going through Google Pay. Try it without GP and checkout with your BCP directly.
Will do next time. I normally don't use Google Pay with Instacart, but did this time around.
When I had the BCP, Intacart always coded as groceries. Even when I ordered from Costco.
UPDATE: Forgot about this issue for a while until several more purhcases later. It turned out that the problem is specific to Harris Teeter. I've had several additional IC transactions with Harris Teeter and all (with and without Google pay) are giving me 1% instead of 6% except for an add on tip (post delivery). I'm having no trouble with Publix or anywhere else I've used Instacart. The first time I called Amex it was filed as a general complaint and nothing happened. 2nd time I called in I pressed for rewards instead of general customer service and got someone who looked into it further for me (and explained about the general complaint last time). After some digging around with me on the line they say it's coded as "US supermarkets" so it's should be earning 6% and are not sure why not but it may take up to 2wks to fix on their end . It's been about a week so I'll wait another week before contacting them
