I'm figuring Quicken must know the coding system and if it auto catagorizes as "grocery" or "gas" that probably tells you that the transaction qualifies for the relevant cash back rate. Curious if anybody has experience to the contrary.
My checking account list it as Kroger fuel. Not sure if that is relevant or not. I buy most of my fuel there because of the shopping reward points (.03 off per gallon up to .10 off).

The best Grocery Store cash back you can hope to earn is 4.75% due to the BCP $75 annual fee. Therefore, getting a no fee 5% Gas Station card such as the Sallie Mae Mastercard would not only result in more cash back, but would eliminate the hassles of buying and keeping track of Gift Cards.

Yes, I tried. Where we shop, I was told I could purchase gift cards with cash or debit only. No credit.
Just out of curiosity, what does AME classify the transaction as? If you log on to your account and click on the transaction, it should tell you the classification.
