I've had a credit card with BCU for years. I noticed a fraudulent charge of $30.00 and I called to dispute. They initiated the dispute and cancelled the card to send me another one. Okay. What was strange was the rep said I would receive some paperwork in the mail that I had to fill out, have notorized and then sent back before they could issue me a provisional credit. lol. What? I've never heard of such a thing with any of my other credit cards, ever. Is this the new normal in 2026 or is this just the quirks of BCU? This is the first time I've disputed anything with them.
My only experience was a charge Huntington notified me of. They said it looked fraudulent and they wouldn't pay it without my ok.

Welcome to the forum.
I don't think that's the new normal. Asking for some paperwork on a fraud dispute isn't unusual, but requiring it to be notarized before they'll issue a provisional credit certainly is.
BCU does seem to have a bit of a reputation for making relatively simple things more complicated than they need to be, so this may just be another one of their quirks... you might enjoy this thread for some BCU commisery.

Did I miss the part where Huntington and BCU merged? 🤔
Or were you referring to your only experience with fraudulent charge?
The latter. Huntington notified me of the fraud and didn't pay it in the first place. They seem to be on the ball. They have convenient branches too. I think of them as just our local bank, but they're actually larger than amex. I learned something else on the fdic website. Chase bank has its hq in Columbus as well. The Jpmchase Corp hq is in nyc, but the bank part is in Columbus.

Interesting stuff @FicoMike0, but I'm not really seeing what any of it has to do with BCU or the OP's question. Let's try to stay on topic please.
Good point, sorry.
