BCU nerfing Travel Rewards card

The Notice of Consumer and Business Member Service Agreements Change-in-Terms I just got details that, effective September 1, 2025: "We will no longer be offering BCU travel cards. However, you can conveniently use your BCU credit or debit card as an alternative for international travel transactions."

You will note the "effective September 1, 2025" part... It says nothing about whether existing cards will continue on or will be PC'd to the cashback card but I would assume they'll continue taking apps 'til 9/1/25.

Re: BCU nerfing Travel Rewards card

That's sounds about right for them. BCU discontinues their most solid Visa. I wonder if the CU will PC it to the cash card.

Re: BCU nerfing Travel Rewards card

I joined BCU in mid-2023 when they were FOTM. Savings, checking and Cash Visa. Got the SUB. Then got caught up in the major BCU thinning of the herd in 2024. They reopened my Visa right away. But the whole thing just put me off BCU, I turned around and closed everything a few months later. I never looked back.

Re: BCU nerfing Travel Rewards card

I haven't been able to spot this updated language anywhere.

But either way, I wouldn't consider it a "nerf". BCU now has 2 2% cards, one earning cash, the other earning points that can only be used towards travel redemptions. It makes no sense to keep both products in tact as they are. I'm assuming that all Travel Rewards cardholders will be moved to Cash Rewards and BCU may possibly add the Global Entry/TSA refund and spending bonus to the other card, or even rebrand. But from an outsider's standpoint, there genuinely was no reason for the overlap now that Cash Rewards is at 2%.

Re: BCU nerfing Travel Rewards card

So Sept 1st has come and gone and the BCU Travel Rewards card still exists.

I'm going to assume that "travel cards" was in reference to a different product that was a legacy product to begin with, but I never spotted the changed language anywhere.
