Re: BEWARE OF FIRST PREMIER!!

But they sent me a pre-approval mailer!  It said that I could get a 500 limit with a $125 AF at 28.9%.  They seem like straight shooters to me!

Wait. What. You've been hanging out here for seven years and have never read a single "FIRST PREMIER SUCKS" thread???

No offense. But "a little slow" might be being charitable. We may be talking "special."

Believe me, I DO read and I DO know they are a Rebuild card and I DO know that there have been ISSUES with them, HOWEVER, I had not heard of and or seen the tactics as I described, THUS the reason for my post.  AGAIN, if I can help just one person, not push that button, IT IS WORTH IT!

Re: BEWARE OF FIRST PREMIER!!

They are not a rebuild card...

They are a rebill card. As in they will bill and rebill you for everything. They are a card one gets when one is absolutely uninformed about credit because they are usually one of the first to send their preapprovals in the mail.

As you know assuredly (and hopefully) know. It is far better to save your money and get a secured card vs These predators.

Many here liken them and CreditOne preapprovals to getting anthrax in the mail.

I said that originally but I think I would like to recant that statement. FP and CO are worse. At least anthrax kills you quickly!

Having lived through credit one when they were more predatory (2007/2008), and their illegal CR reporting tactics, I rebuilt just this way, with a 500 secured credit union card.  It is now unsecured, never an annual fee, and still in my sig (gee, a card you can keep after rebuild).

Even though I was following the bk to 700 thread without filing bk (substitute clean up credit reports through hard work and PFD's), I would never start with the first cards suggested in that thread.  ALWAYS get a secured card that will graduate as your first card.  You even get the money back, mucho better than credit one and first premier.

There is only one rebuilder I would recommend, and that is First National Legacy or Savings line out of South Dakota.  They do have the AF of 75, and starting apr of 29.99 (though after year, if you REALLY still need them, can get 19.99 for next year).  But none of the other problems associated with credit one, first premier.

Signature needs updating

Re: BEWARE OF FIRST PREMIER!!

Dont forget that if you request a credit line increase and they approve it, they will then charge you 25% of the increase amount you just requested.

Re: BEWARE OF FIRST PREMIER!!

I have a FP card. So far I haven't had a problem with them but I do plan on paying them off and closing the account. I've read a lot of bad reviews recently about them and I can do without the risk of one of those bad experiences.

Very true. Hope you know I was just kidding around with you. This would hardly be the first repeat info thread at MyFico and a warning against First Premier is always in in order. I'm just sorry your friend had to find out the hard way.
