BK and Citi Question - Update - Applied for the Citi Simplicity Anyway -

I have a 9/03 BK in which I included my Citi Visa .  Currently, I have Discover and Barkley MC.  The only other card I want is a Citi Visa -  I pulled EX the other day and did not see my BK on  it.  I already asked in the BK forum -  but since I also have a CC question - I think it is ok to ask here as well.  Is it possible that the BK was removed 2 months early, also if it is removed from EX does this mean it is removed from the other two?  Even if it has been removed from all three Is it too soon to apply for Citi?  My TU and EX are 730is - two judgements - one satisfied.   I

Re: BK and Citi Queston

In response to your question, yes if it is not on there anymore I would just be happy and not question it. I cannot attest for the other two CBs as they all operate independently the only thing you can do is go to annualcreditreport.com and pull the others and check them. In regards to Citi and applying, they may have you on their "blacklist". I am not sure if they are BK friendly.

It is possible that at the discretion of the CRAs some of the negative items, namely BK can be removed early - not always though.  The best suggestion is to obtain or request your other CRs to see if the BK has been officially removed.  Also, depending on whether all is clear from all 3 CRAs, it would probably be a good idea to check your scores as well.  Once BK falls off your CRs then it's likely your profile will be rebucketed so there may be a score fluctuation.

As far as Citi, check those CRs first before applying.  Now, there are folks who anecdotally have been approved with a BK but toward the end of it coming off.  Other folks have reported including Citi in BK and either being approved or declined so this outcome will vary by individual.  Best of luck!

Re: BK and Citi Queston

Decided to go ahead and apply - It has been so long since I have had a Citi card in my wallet  - And I have been denied a good 5 times over the past 10 years - I saw the Simplicity card - the first on the page - and said, "Why not?"  I got a message to call to provide more info. Smiley Surprised  I did, and the only thing the woman asked me was if I got my mail at my mailing address.  I said No - gve her my PO Box - and as she was inputing it - I was wondering if she was checking that address against their backlist database or something.  After about 3 minutes - "I was able to approve you with an initial CL of $5000.00"  I do not know a darn thing about this card, but that is fine with me!

I am speachless - 15 years ago - I had a pocket full of credit - Discover and Citi Visa were my primary cards - I fell into gambling for many years.  Did not start rebuilding until like 5.5 years ago - still had some baddies since then - 2 judgements actually.  The only CCs I have wanted since I created this mess in my life are Discover and Citi.  Now I have them - and this is my largest starting credit line since 1997 when my CU approved me for $11,800.  I am just numb - My way back into prime - for me  was always going to be measured by two cards - Discover and Citi Visa!  Thanks for all the wonderful forums and advice over the past few years!
