BMO preapproval thoughts? Is it a soft or hard pull for acceptance?

I opened a BMO checking account yesterday and in the process the rep said oh wow you mustvhave good credit, they approved you for a card.  I asked if I accepted would it be a hard or soft pull and he said soft.   I have 30 days to accept.  The card I was looking at was the rewards cash back which is 5%, 3% tiered rewards.  Any insight into BMO?  He couldnt tell me what the SL would be.  Are they generous with CLs?   Are CLIs easy?  Hard or Soft pulls for CLIs?   Thanks!

They recently took over "Bank of the West"

"BoW" cards converted to the one you are looking at.

No info as to your two questions, however will share what little I can.

Apply rewards quick.

Let you redeem as deposit to checking /savings, statement credit or credit on purchase.

For statement credit, (how I redeem), minimum $15 and $5 increments.

Web page has no option to ask for a CL increase, or set up travel.

Options are lock card, alerts, and update income.

If pre-approved in branch will be a SP or should be and they should be able to tell you your credit limits as they were able to tell me mine at time of  opening checking account and APR as well they showed me the piece of paper and sent me home with it had 30 days to accept or not.. I waited a few more months and took a HP and got a higher SL etc.  Cash rewards is a great card for streaming/cable bills I get like 25 every two months between my cable and other services in cash bash.  All i really use it for is cable/streaming services but a few hundred plus back a year I will take.

Credit lines depends on many factors typically it is 6-10k range.  I was one of the higher ones at 18k.  My cards range from 6k-70k CL's with most of them around the 25k range for reference.

Just bear in mind that the tellers are out there promoting products these days.

I never even heard of BMO Bank until reading your post, so I can't say anything about them from personal experience or even from having read other peoples' experiences, but I looked over their credit card offerings and found them to be "meh".

I can't find a BMO "rewards cash back".  I assume we are talking about the BMO "Cash Back"?

The parent company (Bank of Montreal) did a rebranding last year and their US subsidiary was the old Harris/BMO Harris Bank.    There haven't been a ton of threads about Harris here over the years but if you searched in Approvals some threads for the cashback card should turn up.

The clown show that was Bank of the **bleep** was completely assimilated by the old BMO Harris group. It was not a merger of equals.

I thought they had 5% on cashback on fast food, I must have read it wrong, I do bank with them.
