are they able to get your credit score with a soft pull? Do soft pulls hurt?

I think yes.  No.

But if you have opted out they cannot do it and yiou get a "nothing available"
The slide from grace is really more like gliding
And I've found the trick is not to stop the sliding
But to find a graceful way of staying slid

Re: BOA Amex Question

Is this a soft pull on BOA's website for pre-approved offers?

Re: BOA Amex Question

Yes, it's a soft pull. Click the middle button "preapproved?"

Re: BOA Amex Question

I keep hearing from some that it showed up as a hard pull.  Just by checking for offers, not even applying yet.

Re: BOA Amex Question

Just checked if I had any preapproved offers.... BINGO!  BofA Amex, BofA Plat and BofA Rewards Visa all with $ 1500 limits.  What the heck, I completed the app and APPROVED with $ 2500 limit.
Wow, Currently my TU 636 EX 678 1 baddie Verizon pd c/o $ 340 12/06 and 1 Orchard card $ 500 limit and maxed out, never been late, opened 6/07.
Brammy, I know you advised me to pay down first before applying for new cards, but I could not wait.  Reading the forums although the advise is excellent, it also gives you the itch to app when you have somewhat decent scores and no good cards.

Re: BOA Amex Question

Congratulations. I just started seeing preapproved offers on their site in the last few days. My EXP score just went up to 723 from 695. My offers were for $3500 and I'm itching to apply and maybe get a higher limit. I expect my scores to go higher in the next 10 days after a few credit cards report 0 balances.
Rust never sleeps and neither does my fico score...

Re: BOA Amex Question

A poster on another thread (chiwiseguy, maybe?) said he was preapproved for $3500, and when he called, they offered him $10K. Which he took! Smiley Wink
