BOA CLI button?

My 3rd statement just cut on my BOA 123 card and the CLI button showed up for the 1st time. I can't figure out if I should request a CLI now or wait for 6 statements to cut.  I know it's a hard pull on TU. My TU is my strongest score at 745 with 12 inqs (none in the last 6 months).  I have $700 balance on the card right now. I might give it a go after I make a $300 payment. I like this card and would love a higher limit. But I don't want waste a HP.

They have been extremely giving lately and usually, once the button is there you are good for something but if you do go for it ask SUPER high, it counters! (like $25k) or $50k if you are within $10k of $25k!)

The button being there doesn't mean anything in terms of your chances; it automatically appears after you're eligible to request an increase.

On the face of it, everything sounds OK, OP, although we aren't underwriters for BOA and ultimately, you just have to decide if it's worth taking the chance. If the system does decline it, you can always call for a human to look into it for you.

Re: BOA CLI button?

Agree with CA!. I recently came upon my 3rd month of having a Boa BBR when the button came up. Now mind you, my score was nowhere close to yours, awesome job by the way, but decided to go for it and went from$1500 to $4200!. For me was a very nice leap and makes me look forward to my next opportunity for a cli, though i may wait longer just because i want to try and elimate my hps to have a super clean report. Good luck on your decision Smiley Happy

Re: BOA CLI button?

Thanks for the replies everyone! My SL was $6500. I think I'll pay the card off and request a CLI after my next statement. Just to be safe. Then I'll shoot for the moonSmiley Happy

Re: BOA CLI button?

I agree with this poster... they have been super great to me lately. I will sing BoA's praises as long as I live. Here's my story - First, I have a clean credit history, never any derogs and low util. But I've had Cash Rewards card since 2001.( I don't even think it was Cash Rewards then, I remember when it upgraded). Got various CLIs over the years to $20,000 in 2014.  In Dec. 2015, I pressed the CLI button and it went from $20,000-23,000. In June this year,  I called customer service and got pre-approved for the Better balance Rewards with a 7,500 limit. SOFT PULL! I swear, there was no hard INQ from this on any reports. Then in July I opened a checking account over the phone,  and also the customer serivce rep was WONDERFUL and  talked me into apping for the Travel Rewards card, and was approved with a $7,000 limit. This was a HP on EX for me, but I was so pleased. Now,  it has been over 6 months since I had a CLI on the Cash rewards, so earlier today I pressed the CLI button again, requested $35,000. They approved me for $32,400!! It was a HP on TU. But that's my strongest score. If you have a good relationship with these folks, CALL IN and chat with the CSRs. They may just give you some love! Good luck.

Re: BOA CLI button?

Well it may not be a guarantee always but you have to put everything with these different lenders into a perspective too.

And that's sometimes overlooked.

The old saying strike while the iron is H0T carries some weight as in produces results!

Your choice of course, but as a BofA card holder myself i will say to BofA's favor that the luv button came thru earlier for me than i would have anticipated and i was going to wait another couple of months first.

However seeing members posting multiple success with it i also made the move and glad that i did now.

Got a (HP) CLI for BOTH cards!

Also i usually call my requests in to their analyst's but with all the hype over the button i decided to give it it's very first whirl!

+1

BofA loves to pieces not only PIF but balances + big paydown payments and will reward accordingly. Smiley Wink
