Great information...thanks everyone!  It does seem like you can climb the ladder fairly quick with Bank of America.

I've had moderate usage on my BOA Travel Rewards so far (~$500/month; $5000 CL).  But it should get a good workout in Europe later this summer.  I'm trying to garden until next year, but if I can bump it up to >$10K, it may be worth another HP.

Some of you mentioned they countered your request...is this pretty common?  Does that mean I should ask for $15K if I want $10K?

I'd ask for $20k and see what they'll counter with (if you're eligible for a CLI they will counter!). BofA is so good on CLIs you don't want to limit yourself especially with a HP involved.

Yes they will counter. I tried with the cash rewards from 5K to 10K that was fully approved and the travel rewards I tried from 5K to 15K  but the counter was 10,1K...yes that silly 100$ more than the cash rewards..lol... but of course it was quite a deal to add 10K with a single pull for me.

Re: BOA CLI?

Avg usage $3000 / month

Time since approval about 45 days

Starting limit $2000, CLI to $3000 on activation, CLI to $6800 (asked for $6800) about 45 days later

Util might have been under 20% with the card, and under 10% overall

Re: BOA CLI?

It sounds like waiting 2 months before requesting a CLI from BofA is enough?

A few questions for those who have been successful in recent times with a BOA CLI.  What was your:

a). Avg Usage/month?

b). Time since approval/last CLI (3 mos/6 mos/12 mos/etc.)?

c). UTL on both the BOA card and overall UTL at the time of request?

Thx!

BOA Cash Rewards opened in Nov 2013 - $5K - immediately did a bal transfer of about 3.5K.  Run about $300-$500 p/m.  Requested CLI to 10K a couple weeks ago, HP on TU approved.  UTL on BOA at time of request 74% (on CR) actual balance about 86% UTL, Overall around 25%.  I was surprised it was approved, for sure thought it would be countered.

Theoretically, yes - but in order to maximize your HP it would be best to wait until month 6 to see if you have an auto CLI. Or, if you're like me and not too HP adverse, after the 3rd or 4th statement cuts.

I've called them before to update my income figures, but they basically said there's no point in taking it down since they don't do auto CLIs anyway. I'm on a student card, if that counts for anything. I can't decide whether to do it after 2 statements so I'll have 3 months without inquiries before I go on my 1 year application spree, or just wait till I have 3 statements with BofA but have a HP just 2 months before my spree.

A.) $50 a month out of $2700

B) I got auto CLI increases every 4 months for the last year

c.) Util about 4-6% on my BofA card, and 2% overall

I requested my first CLI in the last month (to $5400), all the rest have been AUTO, so I can't help too much

Oh wow...I was under the assumption BOA did not give auto CLI's.  That's good to know.

Re: BOA CLI?

1) I use my BOA 1,2,3 at least 15 times a month ($1 purchases, $15 groceries, gas etc)

2) Acct opened in August. First increase was from 2000 to 6000 in Dec 2013, next was June 2014 to 8500

3)97% util and 93% overall.

Weird, I know. In serious pay down. BOA is a good bank to do business with!
