BOA Hard Inquiry

DW and myself just opened a joint account with BOA. So, while opening it online I saw the pre-approval button to check if anything was out there for me. Now, I see 2 inquiries from BOA on my report.

Was 1 for opening the account? And the other for checking for pre-approvals? I am so mad because if 1 is for the pre-approval their site is very misleading and they will hear from me..

Re: BOA Hard Inquiry

Did you happen to open both checking and savings?  They did the same thing to me when I opened my account with them last year.  Talk about fuming.  I didn't even app for credit.  The preapprval thing is actuallly soft.

Same thing here. Yep I'm going to run around bouncing checks on a savings accout. Or in the five minutes between opening both accounts all the checks I wrote suddenly showed up on Chexsystems.

Good luck in getting them removed.  The got my on EX and there is no hop gettng stuff deleted from there.

Re: BOA Hard Inquiry

It's bad situations like this where I wish FICO scoring would allow the de-duplication window to apply to CCs and bank accounts. Now that we are on this subject, yes get ready, this is going to be a real rant !!! I don't think banks should have any PP to pull hards since you're not applying for new credit when opening up new accounts such as checking and savings. They aren't extending credit, they are borrowing from us. Heck, we should be able to check their credit and determine the bank's creditworthiness. This is nonsense!

Back to the issue, I have successfully removed some Amex inqs reported on EX but my situation was a little different. When I apped for an Amex Gold CC last April, for some unknown reason Amex pulled my EX and EQ reports on consecutive days and later opened two new accounts. I closed one of the accounts, phoned EX and they removed one of them the following day. Surprising cause this was EX, ya know the evil brainchild.

Re: BOA Hard Inquiry

Yeah but the people at BOA don't have enough sense to remove an inqiry..lol!!  They send a form letter with a 'We made a mistake' with no contact number as if it is impossble to do it from their end. You call and say I'm sorry the CRA will not accept this, they say 'Oh well that's all we can do.  Did I ention the idiots sent all my checking account info including SSN to an address I hadn't lived at in ten years.Smiley Mad
