Yesterday I called BoA to inquire about a potential CL increase and APR reduction. I asked if they would utilize a hard or a soft pull and was told that if she used the automated system while I was on the phone that it was a soft pull, and that if I was denied than I could call back Monday to speak to someone in credit approval and they could utilize a hard pull to see if an increase could happen. I said ok at that point and agreed to allow her to use the automated system and I was denied. Sure enough I get an alert this morning that I have a new hard inquiry from BoA. How can I get this removed?
I would call a backdoor number, explain your situation, and ask for support.
How do I find a backdoor #? Do I ask them straight out to just remove it?
There's sticky thread in this forum for backdoor numbers. Tell them what happened and ask if they could contact the CRA to get them to remove the inquiry.
Thank you I'll give it a shot! Does a hard inquiry only show up in whatever bureau report they pull, or is that something that will make its way to the other bureaus as well and eventually show up on all of my reports?

It will only show on the CR they pulled

While I can sympathise with your dilema and being told it's going to be a SP, there's lots of info on here about BofA nearly always (99.9999% of the time) doing a HP for CLI. There's only a very small handful of folks who post here who've indicated they got a SP. My CLI with BofA have always resulted in a HP, and in one case, they pulled twice! I asked them to remove the 2nd pull, as they did acknowledge it was their mistake, but it's yet to be deleted. For me, some things are just not worth pursuing, as both of them will fall off in good time and it's not adversely affecting my TU score, as I only have 4 pulls over the past 24months.
