BOA cli denial, wants more hard pulls !

Got a BOA secured card in Nov 2013 for 300.00, It unsecured itself almost 2 months ago. Barclay's and Walmart had already given me auto cli's, but BOA gave nothing when they unsecured. Decided to ask for the cli via the luv button, big mistake. After reading the forums here, everyone said "shoot for the moon, they'll counter." I wanted a 1500-2000 limit, so I entered 5000.00 in the requested field and pressed the button. 5-7 day message pops up. 2 days later I called, and was told it was not denied, but still needed to be seen by an analyst,be patient. 2 more days pass, and I get the denial letter in the mail. Hearing people say that hard pull I took was valid for 30 days, I called back and was told we could talk about it, but they need to pull a fresh report. I explained they pulled one just this week, and nothing had changed, and he refused to budge, saying that to even consider it, his request on their system would have to pull a new report. I asked him if he could see my report from last week, and he said "yes, I'm looking at it now" . I say "Ok, based on what you see there, if there are no differences between a fresh pull and the report you're looking at,what are my odds on a cli if I let you do a second hard pull?". He says you might get your requested cli, a counter or a denial, but we gotta pull another to see! I told him forget it. I have a small business account with them for 4 years that processes my credit card transactions thru at about 65,000 yearly. I told him I guess I'll have to start pulling my deposits out on a daily basis and deposit them into my credit union, to which he replies " I hope when you get your credit in better shape you'll give us another try"

Wow...Been with them 4 years. No lates in over 4 years,and they pulled a 675 fico....Speechless....

Re: BOA cli denial, wants more hard pulls !

I have had a cash rewards visa for a year and hit the online request button and was denied. Called back door number and first analyst told me they had to pull another report to do a recon, which is FALSE.

I then called back an hour later, got a really nice girl who spent time looking over everything and still denied me because I sometimes make 2 payments a month on the card, i just hate seeing large credit card balances and i pay in full.

Well, boa does not like that. They want use to use the card to your fullest spending power, then pay it off and maybe they will increase it. I understand what they mean, but you would think during a manual review they coluld see I am putting a lot of money through the card and just choose to pay it off 2 a month but no go.

They did say everything on my report looks excellent and I manage the card extremely well. But still couldnt even throw me a bone, like 500 dollars at least for the wasted hard pull.

For the OP, call them back and make sure you are calling a credit analyst not customer service. They absolutely can use the same pull for 30 days.

Also, I WOULD BE FUMING AT THE EARS if that rep told me that. If you want to private message me the info for the executive office I have it.

I would be soooooooooooooo MAD if they said that to me. Now i am outraged for you. Also, you can throw them a message on Facebook, they are really nice on there and get back to you asap.

Why the 300 $ secured card in the first place?  A few month later you expect a 5K CL unsecured ?  Isn't this a bit fast ?

Still can't believe a rep would say those words to you.. Very unprofessional, even if that is how they felt, they could of bit there tongue or stated it in a different way.   I wish the gov't would of just let BofA die, but won't get into politics.Smiley Happy

+1

I dislike them passionately.  Treated me like dog food after a 21 year relationship.  Never again.

Re: BOA cli denial, wants more hard pulls !

Teo77777, I have no constructive advice to give you, but I do understand and empathize with your disgust and outrage with BOA.

My signature says it all. BTW…my BOA card with the 400 CL is 11 years old! I have also been denied an increase, on multiple occasions. I cannot stomach another wasted HP. I only leave the account open at all because it is one of my oldest cards.

I had that same card (still technically have it). I started out at a $300 secured card, one year later it unsecured and then every 4 months like clockwork I got a $500 CLI. I spend $30-$100 a month on the card, I PIF and I'm not sure what they like about me.

I can say from my experience that they aren't stingy with EVERY customer. I do think maybe they didn't like you requesting a CLI so quick after it unsecured...but who knows.

I have heard horror stories here about BofA, and I've also heard stories like mine. It's definetly a YMMV situation.

Though it does seem BofA LOVES hard pulls, and almost any customer inititated change to a card is guaranteed to be a hard pull.

I do think the customer service rep you spoke to was highly unhelpful and a bit rude. Sorry!
