BOA question....

I had received an offer from BOA for a rewards card and would love to have one of these cards. I recently opened 2 chase cards and I am relectant to apply without a good feeling that I could be approved. I have 1 collection account under EX only which has appeared just 6/08 even though it is two years old, otherwise my credit is good. I have many new accounts due to my student loans that hit every three months -2 accounts at a time that I think bring down my scores. I checked my FICO about 2 months ago (scores at the bottom of the post) and balances on the cards are reletively the same.

Does anyone think in this economic mess and my variety of scores...should Iapply or is it a waste of time?

My opinion

I would try and figure which credit bureau BofA is using in your neck of the woods.  I am about to open a TransUnion Business Checking Account next week and the bank let me know they would be pulling TransUnion when I open the account.

I am located in Houston, Texas and I know for a fact BofA strictly has used Experian with me/family over the past year unless it was a pre-approval credit offer from the BofA teller.  For my BankAmericard opened 10/07 they used Equifax and were listed under FIA Card Services.

Maybe the pre-approval came from TransUnion and in that case I doubt you would be denied with a 716.  Good luck!!!

Re: My opinion

I am in PA and I have no idea which credit company they pull. I did try the preapproval site and it told me that they did not have any offers for me at this time. however, on my approval offer it states to use the code at the bottom of the offer when I apply. Does that mean I have a better chance?

I cannot guarantee this is right

but check out this link...According to whogavemecredit it seems that it is a chance they pulled TransUnion on the pre-approval for you.  It would make sense considering you are in PA and that is where TransUnion is located.  I live in Texas and Bank of America uses Experian, however, on my pre-approved offer they used Equifax.

Re: Sorry to hear

The first 2 numbers were out of order, the third is an "unauthorized number to the department of transportation in delaware"!! LOL If I lived in delaware I might have needed that number Smiley Tongue

Re: Sorry to hear

They would not explain to me over the phone last night why I was turned down. Actually they rushed me off the phone when it came up declined. I did get through today to EDITED credit anylist/recon department at 866-598-4970 and they said they pulled Experian (figures huh? I had just one collection and they pull from the one I have a Sprint collection on) and that becasue I have a collection account they will not accept any applications at this time with any collection account or any unpaid bank loans on it becasue of the economic situation. I have now bumped my score down a bit for nothing and now I am depressed. Oh well...what else is new?
