I have a $3k CL on a five year old BOA card. Currently it is PIF and I haven't been using it very often. I hit the love button and asked for a CLI of $2k (to $5k total.) I entered my income, etc and when I hit the send button, I was prompted to call to speak to a CSR about completing the request. At this point if I do nothing else--no phone call (1) Will I likely have a hard pull on my credit file and (2) will I possibly get the CLI without talking to someone? My FICO is around 715 (TU.Efax)
1) There won't be a hard pull so don't worry about that. When you have a personal credit card account w/ BOA and request an increase, it's a soft pull.
2) It's possible that you will still get the increase. However, they may need to verify some information with you before approving the increase. Furthermore, CSR have no authorization when it comes to increasing credit limits. All they can do is put in the request. You'll probably be transferred to an analyst if you call.

in our experience, you will not get a hard pull but you will also not get a CLI.
Did I win or lose? Well, BOA called me this morning (early) about my CLI request. They granted it but only with a hard pull on my CF and they wanted to know why I was asking for a CLI (good question.) My APR with them is around 22% which is much higher than my Chase card so BOA is not the first card I use. Then I got another hard pull two weeks ago from Verizon. I made the mistake of correcting the spelling they had on my last name. I should have left it spelled wrong. So I have a 60% increase in my BOA CL balance versus a hard pull. I'm not doing squat until the end of the year.
Did Verizon advise you they would be doing a hard pull? I think thats rediculous that they would do such a thing. Could you not just provide them a birt cert, social security card, and drivers license. I would be livid about a hard pull to correct something as simple as my last name.
Verizon did not inform me and I've had an account with them for at least two years. Nor was I applying for credit but pointing out a billing error which they acknolwedged and (three phone calls later) corrected. What irks me is that this was their mistake. All they said was "Is all the information I read to you correct?" I said "You spelled my last name wrong (wrong vowel)" and they asked me to spell it correctly and said "Thank you and is there anything else I can do?" Besides dinging my credit file? The next day I get a "You got mail" note from Citi credit score monitoring service telling me about it. That's when I threw up.
And I hate their voice activated menus. A person with hayfever never get's to where he wants to go because the algorythm doesn'r recognize sniffles and says "Sorry, I did not understand that. Please try again." If you sneeze twice you're dead cause you get a "Thank you for calling . . ." message just before the call is dropped. My problem was that my cat kept meowing and that didn't make it any easier while I was trying to pick my way through their system.
My name has been incorrect with Verizon for YEARS! I've just learned to let it go after numerous attempts to have it corrected. Fortunately, my prior attempts did not result in a hard pull. I would have been just as upset as you.
Regarding their phone system: it is a maze and literally impossible to navigate. I just hit "O" and get transferred to a CSR. Whether they are able to help regarding my question/situation is another story......
I would dispute that pull as unauthorized.

I did the exact same thing as you, and got a $5000 CLI (didn't call in after filling my income, etc). It just showed up in my credit limit after about a week. And it was a soft pull. My FICO is around 800
