I'd like to distribute my credit across the big banks if possible before gardening and working on the wife's credit.  I can wait on AMEX unless there's a good reasont to add them in.  I've considered other synchrony cards as well, maybe amazon with them.

The only "good reason" to add an Amex is if they have a product that suits your wants/need/spend. There is no advantage to having them just to have them.

Re: BOA what to do with them

well wait. you have a discover it... you're good on that amazon front for the rest of the year and if you're enrolled in the double cash promotion then nothing competes lol.

i have amex and don't use them. it depends on your lifestyle. i like cash back personally and amex's categories are decent BUT the coding sucks so yeah. too picky.

I'd personally look at some of the large credit unions to build relationships. Whether it be a auto loan or home loan. It's good to have them in your back pocket as well.

Re: BOA what to do with them

what "large credit unions" do you mean? navy federal is the largest surpassing the second place largest by 3x the assets but not everyone qualifies.

Re: BOA what to do with them

there are only about 10-13 credit unions in the nation that are over $10 billion in assets.

I belong to Justice Federal and Hughes CU's right now...should I explore? Started a share account with JFCU and my auto loan is with Hughes.

Re: BOA what to do with them

They have loosened up a bit. Not quite as stringent requirements as it used to be. Competition is stiff for new customers. They had to do something or lose good potential revenue. OPs scores would make him a shoe in IMO.
