I have a BOFA world points card that will start charging me a $59 AF next month. I called BOFA BD # to see if i can do a product change was told i could but the AF will follow me to the new card, then the CSR asked me why don't you just apply for a new card that doesn't have a AF. I took her advice an applied over the phone for a BOFA Amex was denied because i already have line of credit with them which is my WP card with a $5000 limit an they couldn't extend me anymore credit at this time. I just did a BT to pay off my WP card with BOFA earlier this week just waiting for the payment to post. If i close my WP account do you all think i could have a successful recon with the BOFA Amex or am i dreaming lol

The CSR gave you bad advice. All you had to do was do a product change and that's what they offered you last week. But they also told you the AF will follow you according to your other post.
Moreoever, there's something in your credit file that BOA isn't liking.
Well I'm not going to do a PD for the AF the follow me. BOFA an I had great relationship until now I guess all good things come to a end. I'm definitely closing my WP card now.
That could be it is a CC not the end of the world. I have to remind myself that.

From what I've been reading about this $59 AF that's been imposed on some customers, and from the reasons that you mentioned they gave you, I think that if you closed your current card and successfully reconned, the new card would come with a $59/AF. BoA is looking for a means of levying fees on whichever lucrative targets they can. I seriously doubt that closing your current card, and opening a new one will get you off their fee list. This, because it's not so much a "product" fee, it's a "targeted customer" fee. Once levied, they'd have absolutely no motivation for not collecting it, whether with your current productcs, or different ones.
And, don't forget-- this is a "trial" run to see how the targeted population reacts. They're as much gathering data, as they are gathering fees at the moment.
I just called the credit department an explained in detail what happen. I was just told the AF will be removed from my account. CSR most have looked at the notes of the others call I made an told me I know you where thinking about closing your account an you been a great customer an we don't want to loose you. So I asked her again will the fee be removed for just this year or forever an she told me forever I would not be charged an AF. I asked if she could send me a letter so I can have proof of this an was told she couldn't do that but she gave me her name an the state of the office she was calling from if I had any problems

Hmmm... I'd login and send them an email, asking them to confirm that the AF has been permanently removed per your conversation with <insert CSR>. Their response back can serve as your confirmation of her promise. However, as unfortunate as it is, remember who you're dealing with... a bank. They can certainly 'change their minds.'

I hope for the best for you but take what they say with a grain of salt until you get in writing. When i closed my card because of the fee, they could of cared less if i had kept it open so for three days I thought about it and closed all my banking accounts with them and moved to Chase (who offered me $150 to open an account). They reported the closure pretty quickly and for some reason my scorewatch went up 15 points lol. Maybe it was meant for me to close my relationship with BOA.
