Re: BOYCOTT BOA BANK OF !@#@%^$

ChemGuy,

I dont know if this will help but Sams Club was the first CC I got with a 300 CL after being in DMP for 2 years.  After 3 years, its CL is now 3100.  The interest rate on the card is over 20% but I PIF so I agree with you on Interest rates when you PIF or are rebuilding credit.

I just got a National City Visa card in December which was my first prime CC in 5 years.  I have a mortgage with them so I dont know if that was a factor in the approved pre-approval offer from them.

I dont know which CCCs (if any) you had trouble with but for me I am assuming that every CCC that I had in DMP will blacklist me buit thats okay since thereare  many other places to get credit

Five years it took me to get me credit act together but thanks to BofA I  need to wait 4 more years before its perfect.

It will take time for you but it will happen.

Re: BOYCOTT BOA BANK OF !@#@%^$

I personally do not think it has anything to do with them taking on CWF. Can anyone say subprime meltdown? ALL banks are rate jacking, as of late. Do a search on here and you will see a lot of names that's doing rate jacking.

If no one has notice, every week there is a different bank being talked about. Last weeek it was Citi; the week before that Cap1; a one point AmEx; now this week BoA.

I have seen plenty of times someone say hold on it will be a bumpy ride. Have you not noticed that this is the bumpy ride?

Besides, I am not boycotting BoA, they may take away my highest TL of 50k, so don't count on my vote.

I'm sorry, I still don't understand how you can say they are shaking the money tree on you when they offered you a CLI and lower APR and you turned them down....

I believe maxima1 thinks it's a trap.  That they are encouraging max to develop a high balance so they can RJ in the future.  I appoligise if I'm putting words in your mouth max.

Trap or not, I think I would have agreed to it, and then put it in the sock drawer. May be harder to get the offer again in the future if they see you're not using it.

Ditto.  Use your credit cards, don't let them use you.

If you read back you'll see that Maxima said they raised his APR from 15% to 28%...only after he called to close the account did they give him 9% APR and CLI...and he, or his wife at least,  accepted their offer. Not sure why he'd sock drawer it though!

Banks are always greedy. I do bank with BOA also. I have complete account with BOA including, checking, savings, business, investment, retirement, 401k, 529 plan, Credit Card accounts. They have been the same to me. Nothing changed.

I also bank with them entirely...1 checking, 2 savings, 1 CC and 1 LOC and nothing appears to have changed for me. I went into panic mode after hearing about BOFA but so far, I've seen nothing change for me. And they seem to LOVE my mom....they have been generous with her CLIs and so forth.

I guess it differs for everyone but I'm sorry to hear those who have been rate-jacked by BOFA. I can only cross my fingers and hope they don't do it to me!

Did BoA buy out Country Wide, or was Country Wide forced on them? Banks are not always given a choice.

Re: BOYCOTT BOA BANK OF !@#@%^$

BofA has swallowed up, er, merged with so many banks over the years that I wonder if some of their cards are "legacy cards" and more likely to be rate-jacked and so forth. Sort of like the Providian cards that are now saying WaMu, but they seem stuck with low CL's and high APR.

If nothing else, the frequent mergers might also explain about the wildly inconsistent customer service that you get at BofA. I don't know if they've put nearly enough emphasis upon training and getting a uniform understanding of their products throughout the company.

At any rate, I do hate to hear about the people being dragged through the dirt. DH's AAA card is great, they've done auto CLI's to $16.6K in a year, even though all he's used it for is to park a BT at 0%. I've gotten 3 offers in the mail in the last 2 weeks, each of them better than the last. So they're still on my list for now!
