Back in with Chase?

hi all

Has anyone been able to get back in with chase even though you have burned them in the pst and havent paid the old debt? Also how long did it take and or what was your credit score?

If you burned them you can forget about it for a while. From all i have heard 5 years and that is being nice. maybe longer.

Re: Back in with Chase?

I burned them about 10 years ago for a large amount. Over 10k that was never paid. I was young and thought credit cards meant I was rich. I just got the freedom this week with a 1,000 limit and was prequalified. My current score is just lower then 600 with some lates and 1 small unpaid charge off showing. So there's hope!

Re: Back in with Chase?

I've tried 3 times and I must say that they hate me lol.  I burned them in 08 (it was actually a Wamu card. Chase bought them out).  I have since paid that debt, but it is still reporting on Ex.  I app'd for the freedom twice and the Marriott once. Recon all three times... twice, and they were still like hell no.  They even saw where I paid the debt I owed them!   I have American Express, Discover, Citi DC, etc. My credit has improved tremendously and it's still a no go.  I even have a car loan through Chase but they will not grant me a $5,000 credit card. Go figure. I guess it's YMMV.

Re: Back in with Chase?

I had a WAMU card that went into collections basically around when Chase bought WAMU, became a judgement in 2009, paid in full in 2011.

They denied me for AARP last summer (2015) but after the judgement came off my TU, i was pre-qualified for CSP and Freedom, applied for CSP and was approved after a week for 9k SL.

I applied for FU about 30 seconds later but they mysteriously lost that application, and when I reapplied for it a week later (after confirming approval of CSP, and learning that the FU app mysteriously vanished) they pulled EX which was still showing the judgement... literally for one more day after this 2nd app... so that was harshly denied, ultimately ended up getting it approved on recon only by splitting the CSP's limit.

Long story short, they will forgive you but probably not as long as the burn is reporting, and possibly not at all if you never paid the debt.

Yes i burned them back in my teenage years. Granite my credit card with them was inly $300 but i did paid the collection off and it was taken off my credit a few years ago. With that i now have the freedom and sapphire. As you know ot all depends on your profile as well. Good luck! Smiley Happy

Re: Back in with Chase?

Chase has a very very long memory. I had an old Bank1 card they took over in like 2000 that had been charged off for under $1k. On my last call with them they grilled me about it. I was completely blindsided as I had long forgotten about it.

Re: Back in with Chase?

I burned them about 9-10 years ago for a small amount, less than $500. First Chase app was about 1.5 years ago for the CSP and was not instantly approved. I called in and they brought up that small amount and asked why things would be different. I explained and was approved over the phone. Always a chance to get back in. Though I'm pretty sure thats why I never have any offers for them and have never been instantly approved for anything from them.
