Bad assumption about AmEx upgrade?

So after having read so many of the upgrade/downgrade anecdotes about the ED and EDP I figured I would play the same game with a Platinum/Green situation. I have two golds(one downgraded from a Plat) and a Green. I get more value out of the Plat credits than the Green so it should net out in my favor but the 25k upgrade bonus along with 5x bonus for dining/groceries/gas made it a no brainer.

I clicked to upgrade last night and did not read the lanuage regarding the eligibility but checked it this morning out of curiosity. It has the normal lifetime language for the upgrade offer which makes me think I was silly for thinking I would get that.

Does that language exist on ED/EDP when upgrades are offered and you get the bonus anyhow? Not the end of the world as I'm happy not to have redirect 2k of spend to the Platinum.

Re: Bad assumption about AmEx upgrade?

Upgarde offers like Green -> Gold, BCE -> BCP, and so on are not restricted to the lifetime language as long as it's said upgrade offered by AMEX themselves and not a new application. The exception being if the lifetime laguage is not present as it happens every once in awhile. I know a few people here have already done a few "upgrade, downgrade in a year when AF is due, rinse/repeat and no issues at all. You should be fine getting the upgrade offer, if you want to make sure chat with AMEX via browser/app and they should let you know
