Hey folks, I had a quick question for you all.
My wife was recently approved for the CSP, and made me an AU on the card. We have a big trip coming up and wanted to get the sign up bonus, so we are putting all of out tickets on that card.
We were playing around with the idea of doing a balance transfer to another card to be able to pay it off over time with 0% apr. Does anyone if we could transfer the balance to a card in my name, or would it have to be a card in her name? I've never done a balance transfer before, so I've never run across looking into whether both accounts have to belong to the same person or not.
Thanks in advance!
Make sure it’s not from one citi/Chase to another Citi/Chase card.

@Anonymous, how are those banks different?

Do they have a rule against that? We have a few options, but one option was from the Chase Sapphire Preferred to a Citi ThankYou Preferred.

Using a Chase card to pay off a Citi card (or vice versa) is fine.
What you can't do is use a Chase card to pay off another Chase card (or Citi card to pay off another Citi card)... most issuers have this same restriction.

@Thank you @UncleB . That makes a lot of sense.
They won't process balance transfers from an account to another one if both accounts are issued by the same creditor. So no balance transfers from Chase account to another Chase account, or Citi account to another Citi account. It's written in their terms.
You also should be aware that any purchases transfered, will now be under that new card's rules for product pretection or replacement.
Say if you bought arfare tickets, but needed to cancel. etc. At least that's what it says in teh fine print on a few of mine.
