Was your girlfriend able to do a balance transfer?
What Americard? But congratulations! I thought the 0% APR was for Intro only.
The frequently mentioned Amex Everyday card is wonderful, if your income warrants it. DW recently got one, whose limit was extra high as Amex noticed she wasn't using her TrueEarnings much and automatically transferred some to the Everyday. So we put a new furnace and a new water heater (installation and all, the works) on the card and made sure the balance stayed on this side of 50%. She swiped it the minimum of 20 times for 20% bonus points on top of the charges, not to forget the 25,000 intro points for spending a mere $2,000 within three months.
It's critical with balance transfers that you have a plan to pay off the balance within the offered period of time. One approach is evenly divided monthly payments, which takes care of paying well beyond the minimum.
