Bank of America Card Options

Hi all. I'm just curious as to which card would be a good switch to from the Bank of America Cash Rewards Card. Currently i have that card and it just unsecured at the end of last month. I have an AF of $39 which i was just notified it will be on my April statement. I was told on this forum that im basically bucketed from the switch from secure to unsecure and to wait 3 months at least and app for another card. I have a $400 limit and i have no credit limit increase when i unsecured. I am waiting out the three months(even though i am about to pay the AF) but would like to know which card would be a good prodcut change for me. I don't travel and use the card for every day use like gas mainly. I also would like to avoid paying a AF on my next card. I would love to keep my rewards and possibly find something that would reward me better for my card use(i think i said that right).

Re: Bank of America Card Options

You can always call them and see if they will remove the annual fee for you. I'm actually calling them tomorrow because they let the card go unsecured (I didn't know), then I app'd for a CLI to $2500, they rejected the app through mail but still say its under review so I gotta call them and see if they can at least remove the AF and hopefully get a small CLI.

Re: Bank of America Card Options

Well,I'll call tomorrow and ask ask about the annual fee. Also, from what I read here in the forum, a secured card is limited when it comes to CLI for BofA. That I'd have better luck apping for a product change and requesting an increase so I can transfer it to the new card. Not sure how it all works but hopefully others with experience with bofa chime in. I didn't try for the increase when it unsecured because I was afraid of denial. Which card do you have?

Re: Bank of America Card Options

I was told that they won't wave the annual fee for me. And that I'd have to flat out apply for a new card that didn't have an annual fee 🤷‍♀️

Re: Bank of America Card Options

Yeah me too, they said that card comes with an AF, but they did do a CLI from 500 to 1000 which I won't argue with. Hopefully it starts growing now.

Re: Bank of America Card Options

Awesome was it a hard pull? Also, you could try to apply for the cash rewards unsecured card and transfer your current limits?

Re: Bank of America Card Options

No hard pull, they used the pulled report. The card is an unsecured cash rewards card now so now it just has to grow.

Re: Bank of America Card Options

How long from when it unsecured to when you requested the increase? Was this your first increase since graduating? I want to try it. I'm gardening tho, I don't want it to be a hard pull, it's been under a month since graduating so I think it should be a soft pull. Hopefully.
