No credit card required
Browse credit cards from a variety of issuers to see if there's a better card for you.
I got this card January 2017.
They gave me a CL of 20K, my average card is 15K,
and the average initial Cl for me is about 10K.
A few things to know, but not a deal breaker for me.
1) If you are married, and reside in one of the following
community property states:
AZ, CA, ID, LA, NV, NM, TX, WA, or WI
You must select the "joint" application type and
include your spouse's information even if you are
applying for individual credit. The on-line application
will "HP" both you and your spouses credit report.
If you want to only pull your credit, you need to "Apply by Phone".
2) No online statements, they send paper statement.
However they have a online page that shows the same current info as other banks
Sept. 2017 -- Online statements will be implemeted
3) You can not move your statement date, it is the last day of the month.
Sept. 2017 -- Can move statement date
4) You need to push payments from your bank or CU with
your bill-pay service, or send a check. They do not have
the normal account linking to pull your funds.
No info on this !
This all said, I like my card, spend about 1K month in the 3% category's, and just
received my quarterly cash-back.
I also think it is my nicest looking card (IMO)

They gave me a CL of $6K, my average credit limit is $19K

I've always been able to pay this card online, via some Western Union online mechanism. It would probably be nicer to push from a checking account though.

YES you can pay online through a 3rd party Western Union Page, I have never used it, however they make it
look like it is necessary to enter all account info, and your checking account routing each time you make a payment.
I believe all the extra steps make it mush faster, safer, and better to push from my Credit Union.
All my other credit cards are able to be payed from the CC- Institution's web page from a linked account.
This is the most convenient method (IMO).
I am surprised that BW does not have this feature.
A little surprised at the 6K -CL you received, I guess I just lucked out!
My guess is they didn't like my $400k+ total credit limits, but its a complete guess.
I'm currently not using the card, but will probably switch to it in the 4th quarter. Discover 5% is currently covering restaurants, and I purchased a bunch of gift cards for the yuppie grocery store I use at a 6.9% discount (5% from NBA card, and 2% for buying the gift cards in bulk [$1000]), so i'm covered there until the end of the year.
What did you use as a routing number when pushing to your bank of the west credit card? the faq says for anything besides a checking account, you have to contact your local branch for the appropriate routing number.
And I thought Penfed was bad...

Is this for reals? Can someone confirm that we can't press a button to make a payment from our checking account? What year are we living in?
Bank of the West has a "Pay Now" button that takes you to a third party
"Western Union" page for payment. ( Have never used it ).
You can "Push" money from your Bank or CU via online payments.
My CU was able to link it as an "Electronic" transfer, aka "ACH Payments".
Works for me.
They do not provide the normal "pulling" of funds from your checking
account directly from the BW site.
They have the statement date as end of month, and sent a paper statement
It might work differently if you have a checking and savings with them, but this
how it works if you only have a credit card.

That's crazy. Thanks for the help. I was planning on app'ing for this card but I'm used to certain features in 2017 and don't want to go back to living in 1998.
