I was wondering what my approval odds are for the Barclay Arrival Card. I currently have a TU Fico score of 727 and 90k in available credit with 7% utilization and 140k annual income. My worries are my TU CR has 10 inquires (mostly mortgage lender pulls) and I have read Barclay tends to pull from TU. I also have one paid CO from 2011, but other than that, a clean report. My AAoA is just under 6 years. I have tried the prequalification link and it said “congratulations, I prequalify for the Barclay Arrival, Rewards MC, and Barclay ring card.” However, I did recently app and approved for the Discover it, Citi Dividend, and Chase Freedom. Should I pull the trigger or give it some time? Thanks!
Barclays almost will exclusively pull TU. Let your inquiries fall off. I read on here where a person had 2 inquirie and was denied or something like that. Seems they are too inquiry sensitive. Also recon isnt as easy so you may not be able to explain those mortgage inquiries. Good luck! Let us know the result if you decide to app!
Its not easy to predict these things. Having said this, I second what @Shock said: wait for some of the TU inquiries to drop off. You could've tried on the same day you applied for the other cards, but since thats past, just wait, sit back, and enjoy what you've recently added to your wallet.
My reading of various posts etc. on the internet suggests that Barclays is more difficult to get credit from than others. Various people have also reported that when they called for a reconsideration, they were told that their report had too many inquiries on it. Now look, everybody on these posts self-selects in and therefore these reports are by absolutely no means a true representation of the population out there applying for these card. But to err on the side of caution, I'd say, wait.
I was denied with 2 INQ's and a 764 score in Jan, 2014. They were concerned about the 2 new accts (from the INQ). I think they are concerned more about newer accts than INQ's. Give it a shot, YMMV
I disagree that the mortgage inquiries will be a problem. Those are easily explained on recon. I think the charge off is a much bigger issue.
Based on what they told me, they want to see 3-6 mos age on new accts.
