Without a doubt. And I love the fact that you can get 2X for using it to pay your bills (cable, electric, telephone, cellphone, car insurance, etc.). You're going to pay them anyway, so you might as well put them on the card, get points for them, and then PIF the card!
Well, (among the) best for non-aspirational travel. If you want to go first class international, or at top-top-tier peak season hotels, you are going to have to be able to transfer points to a frequent flier/hotel stay program, using a card from SPG/MR/UR or similar programs.
Aspirational Is subjective. Not everyone needs to fly first class. Just need to fly there for free. I also don't travel to cities/countries for the hotel room. Don't typically plan to be in it long. And I've done a lot of traveling.
Right, merely reacting to "Best card on the market for travel reward/everyday spend/signup bonus combination. " Not everyone has the same goals for travel, for some, premium cabin or top tier hotel is a requirement. For that class, there are other better cards.
That's a fair statement. I'm also not a big spender for dining so being able to get the 2x for everything else and finding a QSO replacement were my goals. Was tempted by CSP since I have Freedom but the bonus was really too good to pass up.
I am tempted to just app for the Arrival and hope for the best. Do any companies deny you but approve you for a lowered tier card in the same app? or recon and get approved for another card? How is Barclays with recon? no go?
From what I've read on here they can approve you for lowered tiered (non world/platinum) card. Depends on the CL. >5k = World.

The good thing with Barclays is that the non-World, non-sig cards are not so very different from the others, just losing the additional benefits from Visa or MC. This contrasts with US Bank, say, where you can get a lower-tiered card with a much worse reward structure.
i think i would rather just get the arrival outright.
I say you app for it as soon as your bce reports to tu.

You can certainly call the credit analyst dept right after your app if you receive the 7-10 day message or denial. i did this when applying for Arrival WMC. I initially received 7-10 day review and they were able to approve and transfer part of the CL from my Sallie Mae card over to the Arrival immediately as I requested. The account reports quickly as well.
Do you currentLy have accounts with 5k or more CL?

I'm confused by this.. There is two versions of the Arrival card, the WMC and the plat. If you are not approved for the WMC they can approve you for the plat. They are very similar and both earn 2x miles for every $.
I am kind of backwards and think apping before the BCE reports would be better. Only because Barclays might give a smaller CL seeing a new AMEX with a high CL. Good luck and keep us posted, i think you'll be approved
