I am considering applying for the Barclay Rewards or the Barclay Ring. However, I cannot find all of the information on the Ring to make an informed decision. The link for applying for the Barclay ring is: http://www.findmybarclaycard.com/barclaycard-credit-cards/ring - and there is a statement: You decide on card benefits. I've read the terms and conditions and can find no information on the benefits that are to be decided on. Does anyone have that info or can anyone point me in the right direction to find out that info, please. TIA.
Pretty basic card.
8% APR
$3 dollar cash advance fee also at 8% interest if you decide not to pay it off before due.
No FTF
Pretty much a no thrills low APR card. Hope this helps a bit. Although the link your provided pretty much states all this
Also just the basic platinum benefits.
such as:
As a MasterCard cardmember you receive extensive travel, insurance, and retail protection services.

I have been thinking a lot about the Barclay Ring and putting it on my list of future acquistions. The more I have heard about Barclay's, though, I don't think Barclay's is a good place to park a balance if you must carry one -- even at 8% interest.
The reason I am beginning to feel this way is because Barclay's is just so darned jumpy and reactive to any changes in your credit profile. Barclay's is the type that would AA you for using their card for its stated intent.
I think if you want to have a card for carrying a necessary balance, you are much better off using a credit union card. There's 5000 of them and some of them have rates as low as 6%.
I think the big banks are good for rewards cards and great bonuses, but not for carrying a balance.

Valid concern for sure.. It is a fine line you walk with Barclay's.. They love BT's, but if you carry to much for to long then shame on you lol.. If I lost Barclay's as a lender it would barely put a dent in my overall credit profile athough I would miss my SM card. The amount of credit they have extended me is small in consideration to my other lenders. Diversify is your best bet as stated on this forum alot so you have options if one lender puts you in a "bad" situation. With that said I try to stil be careful cause of barclay's, but if it happens then an app rampage will ensue)

It's my favorite credit card.
The terms are:
8% interest on purchases, cash advances, and balance transfers
No balance transfer fee
Cash advance fee a flat $3
Don't forget no cash advance fee if you use a cash advance check.. which you can order and have around when you need them.
That's really my only need for my ring. It's like a 6k PLOC at 8% and emergency BT dumping grounds.

I've got a Barclay cc for almost 3 years now. Have almost maxed it out on occasions, paidot full 75% of the time, and use it on general to it's full extent. I never got an AA, they even got me acli earlier this year. Extreme credit seekers might see AA Barclay (as are many people in this forum), for regular users you don't need to fear Barclay.
Agree you are an ideal card holder for what Barclay's looks for.. Very few cards and they are your main card. Average MyFico person might have a bit more to fear as the typical person on this forum probably has 10+ cards.. That is just a generalization, as alot have fewer, but we kinda like our variety
