Maybe replaced by the Cash Forward card?

I've read where some folks have speculated about that.  The Rewards and no fee Arrival cards haven't been available to directly apply for, for quite some time now, so I'm not so convinced that Barclays is planning to do anything with them, but who knows?  If they do force a conversion to the CashForward card, I'll close the account, as I will have no use for a 1.5% card that has a $50.00 redemption threshold.  At least with the Rewards card, I can use it for the 2X categories and keep the pace with the rewards that I could earn with my Citi Double Cash.  The only thing I find attractive about the CashForward card is the $200.00 signup bonus.  I thought about applying for it, but it would be useless for me after I earned the bonus.  IMO, this is the advantage that the Quicksilver card has over it.  The Quicksilver card makes a good SD card, where you can use it sparingly, but don't have to worry about meeting a redemption threshold.

I'd PC Cashforward to Ring, but I don't trust Barclays to not phase out Ring. And when I say "PC", I mean the Barclays way of PC'ing - app for the new card & get approved, then call and move the CL from your old card to the new one and close the old one.

I think you nailed it in your previous post - no CLIs for Rewards as they're planning on phasing it out. And I do think they'll convert it Cashforward. I got Cashforward last August and got a $2k auto CLI last Feb, so that's the card they're pushing, my Rewards MC hasn't had a CLI in years. And you're right, a 1.5% rewards card with $50 threshold for redemption doesn't cut it anymore. I'm at $35 in rewards and when I get to $50 I'll redeem and pretty much SD Cashforward, just a small purchase ever few months to keep it active and keep the $13.2k CL, $16.2k CL if they merge my Rewards into it.

My Barclay Rewards card is my main card.

Does anyone have any ideas why my Rewards card isn't growing?

I think it may have to do with the Rewards card product, ....

.........blah, blah, blah,,,,,,,,

..............blah, blah, blah.............

I'm curious because I only use my Rewards card for monthly utilities (that don't cost anything extra to pay with a CC).  I could put those same charges on my Citi Double Cash, but I want to hold onto this Rewards card for a bit longer and I'm not losing anything, so it's not a big deal for me.

Mine only sees my electric bill to it, it's amazing how much cash back I have earned on buying electricity.

It is by will alone I set my mind in motion.....
Always follow these rules: Only take a HP for a new account. Always use the best rewards card for that reward category. Don't close a card unless you know you really should. Never use more than 35% of a credit limit. Recon as much and as best you can. Use the introductory period to the best advantage. Get the signup bonus. Whenever possible PIF or balance transfer so you pay less in interest. Never give an excellent rating when it is actually the norm. Always look for a discount as more is always better.
Always accept candy from strangers because they have the best candy or from people you know have good candy.

Isn't it actually a bit annoying that everyone has a 1.5% cash back card now?  At this point don't we all have a few of these in our wallets?  The only reason to apply for this card is for the $200!  Actually, that's the only reason to apply for any 1.5% cash back, right?

As much as it pains me to say this but the best 1.5% cash card is probably actually CapOne for the free foreign transaction fees.  And didn't most get one of these starting out?  Didn't we keep it for AAOA?  I'm just sayin............   Most have a 3% foreign fee......

The only other one I can think of that is better is the PenFed one, because if you get the checking account to go with it, you get 2%, but you have to qualify to be a member.  Although there are times I wonder if it is impossible to not be qualified to be a member....

Well, the CC issuers have upped the rewards ante so much recently. I remember thinking "Wow! 1.5% cashback rewards!" Now it's "Only 15.% rewards??? No thanks!" Maybe Barclays realized they're behind the curve and that's why they upped the Cashforward spend bonus to $200. Yes, Cap One is a keeper for for me, but for the frequent 0% BT offers, I have current offers on both QS & Spark biz.

As for Penfed, you're supposed to qualify through military service or association, but they don't seem to check or require proof. I joined Navy League in preparation for joining Navy Fed, but when that got killed I used it to join Penfed in early May. But when you apply for an account online all you do is select your association from a drop down menu and that's it. I wouldn't suggest anyone apply for Penfed membership without really having a required membership association, but just reporting that currently you select one from a menu and that's it, you're in, subject to EQ HP and probably  maybe a Chex or EWS check. The Powercash 2% card is great, and I'm in the final stage of a $25k 4% APR 15 year Home Equity Line of Credit, all approved, just waiting on appraisal.

Regarding the bold: I agree.  And for this same reason, the Barclaycard Rewards card was a pretty good card back in the day with the 2X categories, especially given that Barclays treats the utilities category pretty liberally (where it also includes cable and phone bills).  I think it used to also include some drug stores.  However, now it doesn't shine as much give that there are several 2% "on everything" cards available.  I also agree regarding the $200 bonus that Barclays is now offering.  I'm sure they did that to attract more people to that card.
