It's that time of year again where Barclaycard is offering 0% APR on purchases for customers to buy shiny new Apple gadgets. I have my eye on an Apple Watch. I currently have a Fitbit. Is it worth springing for? The Barclaycard deal is a great offer and I could break the payments up over the next several months. Hmmm, decisions decisions. Any input is welcome.
I love my Apple Watch. Quickly view texts and emails without pulling out you phone.
I have an apple watch that has literally not left a drawer in my house for months. But I know some people who love theirs.
I've received 3 free high end tech watches from the manufacturers to use and review.
They're cool toys for sure, but they're not for me. I already disable 100% of notifications on my phone because I hate being distracted. I only let "family" contacts override my no notification policy.
I prefer a real watch because it's not distracting and sometimes engages people to ask about wearing an antique.
But for some folks who have to constantly be in contact with people, I can see it being useful. I hated all 3 of the watches I had (including an original Apple watch) because my dress shirts have tailored cuffs and none of the watches fit under a sleeve! So if you get tailored clothes, be aware these watches clash with fashion.
I just got a Barclay Apple card I intend to use on new MacBooks for me and Mrs. Disco to replace our old ones that won't even take updates anymore. 24 months interest free is a pretty sweet offer. I've seen lots of complaints about deferred interest and how the whole thing is a scam. Like anything, though, if you read up on the terms up front and read your statements and follow the rules, you can make it work to your advantage instead of theirs.

Have the Iwatch 3 with Cell service... It is neat in some respects, but honestly more of a novelty although I wear it during the weekdays while I am doing Physical therapy etc to get my heart rate etc and not have to have phone on me for texts and the occasional call.. Weekends I prefer to wear my Breitling. Hoping for a new IWC early next year. As stated kinda nice during work week, but prefer nice watches on the weekend. People argue why one needs a watch with a phone as well though. I don't like pulling it out of my pocket and rather just look at my wrist. I also never have my ringer or sounds on for my phone as hate I I mean absolutely hate being distracted when I am at work or in a meeting at work or even while I am at home. I don't let tech consume me other than this forum of course ![]()
Buying an item like an Apple Watch is never good if you are only buying for 0 percent interest. Save up for it and just buy it in cash. Why have debt over a non life essential?
Im actually trying to figure out how i want to finance an iwatch.... been waiting for stuff to be paid off and down...
For me the key feature... coming from a no longer supported Pebble.. is being able to see my Dexcom CGM without futzing with a phone or pulling out a reciever in my pocket.... (and theres a limited choice of supported phones and devices)

The fitness stuff is nice, but spotting problems early and with a bit of discretion... is even more useful.. One place i dont mind spending is if it involves my health... So im trying to get the best deal... some cashback, some 0% financing, perhaps even a spend bonus.... Just because it may be a bit frivolous for some or annoying, it has a place...
That said.. the cell stuff is a novelty, but since im gonna have to wear it daily, i want a nice watch.. Probably wont activate the cell though
