I received an credit monitoring alert last week that one of my accounts was reported as closed, logged in and it was my Barclays account.
Finally got a snail mail notification that it was shut down due to inactivity - I hadn't used this card in around 15 months, it was buried deep in my sock drawer. This account had been open for around 10 years so it was one of my older accounts, but it didn't have a huge limit.
Also it was originally an iTunes rewards card but was converted to the View card when Barclay discontinued their iTunes card.
Just a reminder to occasionally pull your idle cards out of the sock drawer and use them ![]()
I agree because if the 10 year age, but boy I have no love for Barclay's. I've had a comment removed by mods that I made about them... I guess the hatred runs deep 😆 Sorry for your closure.
Yeah, it's unfortunate but this one's on me, I didn't use the card so not surprising that it was eventually shut down.
I try not to take things personally with creditors and honestly I think these are always system generated decisions based on risk criteria, etc..
I had never heard of this card. People used to be able to SD Barclays cards for several years before they would do anything. Think my mom didnt use her Barclays card for 3 years and when she passed I shut it down. Sorry to hear that you lost it and yeah its a reminder to use ones cards that are in the SD every once in awhile.
My Uber card was converted to the Barclay View last year. I had $22.xx in Uber cash just for paying my phone bill every month because they had phone protection, which I was never going to use because I don't do the Uber.
Since it converted back to cashback, I used it a couple more times to get to the required $25 minimum so I could cash it out. It now resides in the deepest sock drawer I have.....awaiting an intended inactivity shutdown.
Good riddance. It's been a disappointment since they nerfed it....(four months after I app'ed for it) And I never had to use the phone protection.... *shrug*

I had the Uber and the Apple card, both of which got converted to Views. I use them for monthly $1 gift card reloads on Amazon because $1 balances are forgiven by Barclay's.

Probably because this card is unavailable for new applications.
I think they have this card only for forced product changes.
I suspect my Chase --> Barclays AARP card (3% gas and dining --> 3% gas and drug) will be closed eventually as I have sock drawer'd it. No harm.
To avoid account closure, you may use your quarterly SD cards to purchase ~1$ Amazom GC at the end of each quarter.
This card, after PCing the Uber card, became a permanent SD. I looked at other Barclay cards and could not find also a better card that I request a PC.

Doesnt that just negate the " usage"? Lol
