Barclays cld

One thing I've learned about Barclays is they don't like you getting too many new accounts (at least that's the reason they gave me). They dropped it from 8k to 2k. I got 3 new cards recently that gave me 20k more in available credit so it more than makes up for their decrease. Other than that Barclays has been decent so I'll prob keep it but wanted to share my experience.

Re: Barclays cld

I can attest to this. They don't like new accounts. They are also a bit hard to get CLI's. I have the NFL card and they seem like one of the more strict banks.

Eh. I wouldn't be keeping it unless they reinstate the limit. While the CLD wasn't random or unfair (too many new accounts), it still would leave a bad taste in my mouth.

Re: Barclays cld

Barclay's is famous for this..  Never has happened to me although sure it very well could.. Just had 3 TU HP's other day two from navy and one from BofA and sure as anything was softed the next day.

With that said if they ever did do a CLD on my cards, I would probably just close them although I love my SM, I want a lender I can count on 100% of the time and not to be flaky when the wind changes slightly.

Re: Barclays cld

Wonder what the health of the company will be after Brexit. Their stock was frozen yesterday after plunging dramatically. I am canceling my A+ after draining the miles.

Smiley Frustrated Sorry OP. Barclays is particularly sensitive to lots of new accounts and escalating debt. They are like a jealous gf or bf for sure. Smiley LOL

Re: Barclays cld

"Too many new accounts" will depend on the shape of your credit profile.  Don't assume that there is a universal X.  Stronger and established profiles will generally handle more than profiles that are thinner and/or have issues.

Re: Barclays cld

Try calling Barclay and asking them to reinstate your limit, citing your history as a solid customer.

Based upon the information people have reported on the board, Barclay has been pretty good about restoring limits when asked, if the CLD involves a reason of this nature. (if it happens for other reasons, such as being overextended, they may be less likely to do so).

Remember that it is an automated system performing the CLD based upon an alogorithm. At times this decision can be reversed by an actual person who can look together with you at your Barclay history. Smiley Happy
