Yesterday I received a letter from Barkley stating that they had closed my account in the letter. It stated the reason for the closure was derogatory information being reported on my credit report. So I called today spoke to a representative explained the situation and what was been reported in the ladder, and I asked her point-blank what derogatory information was being reported on my credit report. she put me on hold and after a few minutes more like five minutes really she came back and said I didn't see any derogatory information and I said well why did you close my account. she said and I quote it was because of high utilization on my credit cards and there's only one reporting a balance right now and that's my American Express card. I explained to her that I have to pay the balance in full every month. I didn't go any further with it. I don't care at this point.

Interseting.. Might be jealous they aren't getting your Jet fuel bill spend? Granted doubt your barclay's credit line would support that

It's head-scratchers like this that continue to add to my reservations about Barclays. I know lots of people seek out some of their cards, but they just never gave me the warm and fuzzies. My condolences on the loss of your account, but I'm sure you'll have no problem replacing it with something else.

I definitely know they were jealous because she had a hard time repeating back to me the balance on the American Express. And as far as the jet fuel bill, it wouldn't even cover 10% of the Bill.

Why did you check all three of them? I don't know where they got the information they sent me in the letter. The credit report that she pulled the information from was Experian. I asked her to look at the other two Credit bureaus, but she wouldn't.

It is a head scratch.
My Opinion, but I think a lot more credit card companies/issuers are going to be doing the same thing to people because they have to answer to the border, Directors and a lot of them are losing money so they're gonna be scaling back on a lot of people's accounts.

BarclayUS has always been a quirky (to put it mildly) issuer. Sorry to read but in the grand scheme IMO not that great a loss on your part.
