We've all been warned about possible AA from Barclays if you open too many accounts after they approve you. Is this moreso for the FIRST card you get with them(while they're getting to know you) or should you wait 6 months after each and EVERY application to avoid possible AA?
November of this year, I plan to collect 9 cards in total. The very first being Sallie Mae. Once I get all these, I'm out the game(for a year or two). November will also make 1 yr I will have been with Barclays.
I can leave Sallie for another time but 1.)I wanted a long break 2.)accounts and inqs to age/fall off together and 3.)about 1 yrs history with Sallie before getting my last Barclay card, THE RING.
Heres the deal...
I think it depends on the person, and their overall credit profile. Take me for ex...
Got Sallie Mae in February (my 2nd card with them), and after getting it, I decided that I just "had to have" 20 store cards, and 2 Majors after that. Though I got no AA from them, they did refuse to transfer over CL from my rewards to my SM, unitil I had a little time away from all my new accts. They did a dang SP right then and there when I called in to ask.
Still to date...all cards intact, no issues using them. But I also keep a 1% reporting, and dont maxi out all the cards, plus I still show Barclays love, and decent payments, and PIF both cards before statment cuts.
I pushed the Barclays limits...I wouldnt suggest it though...Do as I say, not as I do, LOL![]()

20 store cards!?!?
I think I might be able to guess your hobby.![]()
Like with all credit it's a case of YMMV. Some have been CLD for a few new cards, others nothing happens with several new cards. Who knows?
I'm waiting to see if the touch my accts for the new Amex cards. Time will tell.
