Does Barclays allow 2 cards? I have the Cash Rewards which gets minimum use, and was thinking of getting the apple card to finance a new computer. Or could I product change my cash rewards card into the apple card? Thoughts... Thanks

Re: Barclays

I have 4 Barclay cards. I don't know of hard limit with them. I assume they operate like Chase with a certain amount of exposure they give you. You might be able to pc rewards to Apple, but I am not 100% sure about that.

Re: Barclays

You could ask for a PC if you don't want to take a HP. IDK of any restrictions on the number of cards you can have with Barclay.

Re: Barclays

Multiple cards with Barclays is fine.  I think they do have exposure limits which do change over time based on your score and usage.  I had the Cash Rewards card when I applied for the SM card.  I got a $9600 limit on it when at the same time my limit on the Cash card was $1000.  I called the underwriters and asked if they could increase my limit to 10K and during the conversation it appeared they could have increased it to 12K or 15K.  I didn't take it, but did get them to also increase my Cash card to 2K.  Since then my SM card has increased to 14K, which means that the two combined limits is higher that the total they were offering at the time of the SM app.

As far as PC'ing to the Apple card, that might not be an offer.  Some banks won't allow PCs to cobranded or from cobranded cards, except sometimes to another cobranded card.

If you have been with Barclays over a year then it might be a good time to simply apply for the Apple card.  I am not sure of the rewards structure on the card, but the Cash Rewards card might actually pay out more than the points with the Apple card.  I think the biggest benefit to the Apple card is simply extended financing at 0% if I am correct?

It is by will alone I set my mind in motion.....
Always follow these rules: Only take a HP for a new account. Always use the best rewards card for that reward category. Don't close a card unless you know you really should. Never use more than 35% of a credit limit. Recon as much and as best you can. Use the introductory period to the best advantage. Get the signup bonus. Whenever possible PIF or balance transfer so you pay less in interest. Never give an excellent rating when it is actually the norm. Always look for a discount as more is always better.
Always accept candy from strangers because they have the best candy or from people you know have good candy.

I have the L.L. Bean Visa (great card for Christmas shopping). I got the Apple card to finance my iPad. You can only finance what Apple tells you you can finance with it so unless you plan on buying a whole lot of Apple products it really is a waste of a card. The interest rate is high so carrying a balance is a no go and Barclays would not lower the APR. After I was finished paying off my iPad I just transferred the limit to my L.L. Bean Visa and closed the Apple card. I did try to PC the card to the ring but I could only PC it to other store branded cards.

Re: Barclays

Keep in mind you can get financing without an apple specific card. For example discover often offers existing users another 0 percent promo. So you dont have to be locked into apple.

Re: Barclays

Keep in mind that you cannot finance every Apple product you buy. Apple determines what you can finance and when you can finance it. I purchased an iPhone and a MacBook Pro at separate times and was unable to finance either one of them. So I got rid of the card. It has been my experience that the first purchase is financed and after that you are on your own.

Re: Barclays

if you're thinking about needing another card first see if you have any 0% offers from barclay to see if you can eliminate that need. then see if you can app for a card you'd use passed the 0% promo and has a potential sign up or spend bonus. the apple card is like a store card in the sense it doesn't offer much of anything except apple. (i know it's accepted globally but it's pointless outside of apple)
