@Anonymouswrote:Ok, so I got a response to the secure message that I sent requesting the PC from the CSP to Freedom and the response wasn't one that I was expecting. I was either expecting a "yes no problem" or a "you can't do this over a secured message, please call CS" and I received neither. Instead, this is the response I received:
Hello BrutalBodyShots,
I am glad to review your account regarding the product
change.
Brutal, at this time, we cannot change your account to a
Chase Freedom account.
As an alternative, you may apply for a new Chase Freedom
credit card. Review the current offers and terms at

What's the deal here? Has anyone ever been told "no" to a PC? Did I just get an uninformed rep here that doesn't know what they're talking about? I responded asking for a reason why and that I know plenty of people that have done the PC that I'm requesting. Not sure what the response will be. Any suggestions here?
IMO, it’s because your card is under a year. Wait and PC then, I believe you have 30-60 days before the AF is non-refundable. I would keep CSP and get a Freedom, it’s a nice combo to have point and value wise, 1.25%x on their travel portal is the worst you can do on value.

Ask Chase to downgrade you from the Sapphire Preferred to the no-fee Sapphire, then wait a month or two and ask them to product change you from the no-fee Sapphire to the Freedom. I have never heard of this approach not working, but I have heard several recent stories of Chase denying the product change from the Sapphire Preferred directly to the Freedom.

you have to downgrade to a no fee sapphire first. do this over the phone and then do the pc the next day. over the phone
Great info here guys. I woud have never thought to go to the no AF Sapphire first.
Whoever said it was because of the account not being a year old yet, you are correct, as this is the message I got back from Chase:
Hello BrutalBodyShots,
We are here to review your request for a product change.
At this time, we cannot change your account to a different
product. Brutal, an option to change the product on your
account is only available after you complete one year with
your current card.
We appreciate your business and thank you for choosing
Chase.
I know someone above recommended that I keep the CSP. Honestly, I have no use for it, as I literally never travel. The only reason I got the card was for the SUB.
you have to wait a year if you do not do the downgrade first
Good to know. I’ll be keeping my CSP until almost the end of the second year and making room for the CSR. I will definitely want to have a second Freedom. If they continue doing 5% Mobile wallet quarters having the ability to spend $1,500 x 2 can come in handy for me.
@bourgogneyou have to wait a year if you do not do the downgrade first
Does the downgrade involve them sending me a new card? I didn't even know that there was a non-AF Sapphire out there. I can literally go from the downgraded Sapphire over to the Freedom the next day, or is it smarter to wait a few weeks or a month at least?

about this time last year I had a bunch of pipes break so I got bunch of cards for the subs. the day after I hit 4$K I downgraded to the no af card over the phone and the next day I did a pc to a freedom. the no af card did come in the mail and I just filed it away. the account # stayed the same. it could not have been easier. also did a few other pcs on the same day. chase is excellent about moving lines and doing changes

It's an older product that was succeeded by the CSP. It can't be applied for anymore but is still available via PC's.
Excellent information above guys and thank you for it. I'll be giving them a call on my ride into work tomorrow and requesting the downgrade to the regular non-AF Sapphire. Then Wednesday or Thursday I'll do the PC to Freedom.
