I currently have an Citi AA card which the AF was waived for the first year. I got the card back in March of this year to get the points and $200 statement credit for airline tickets I booked through AA. I have already determined that I will not benefit much more from the card as I only travel twice a year and not always through AA. My question: Should I go ahead and downgrade the card to the Citi double cash card or wait until my full year is up? I have already booked my airline travel and transferred the point to my AA Advantage account.

If you downgrade before your flights you will loose the free checked baggage.
It’s normally advisable to wait a year before doing any kind of product change. It reeks like churning and banks don’t like that when a customer hits a SUB then cancels or downgrades
You are so right about the free checked bag! I forgot all about that and would have messed up royally. It's why it is always a good idea to run things by this board first. Thank you so much! Since I am not a full on churner, I forgot about how that would look to the bank. Thanks for that bit of advice as well.
