What's the best way to ask for a CLI from FNBO -- is it contacting them at their UW number, on the backdoor numbers thread? The reason I ask is b/c I've lately been getting tons of 0% promo BT checks from them on my existing card with them, some of them with the 0% BT promo APR as far out as until July 2016!
The only thing is, I want to try to tread carefully as rumor has it on the forum that they are a very conservative card lender, and so I don't want to risk AA or closure on my existing accounts, with them. I have ~$1k (out of a $5,600 in available CL) credit left on the card that they offered the 0% BT promo on, so if I BT virtually to the max with them, am i at risk for AA or FR? Also, I was recently approved for a 6.25% FNBO Amex, and so i don't want to risk them closing that beautiful card out with me, either. But to get the most out of the promo BT offer, it would be really nice to get a CLI, from them?
Any advice/thoughts please, on what would be the best way to go about it? Thank you in advance, to anyone kind enough to try to answer!
I just called the regular customer service number on the card after 6 months. Their CSR's seem to actually know the difference between a hard pull and a soft pull. Just ask if you're eligible for a soft pull increase.
As stated call customer service, you can ask for the CLI every 3 months you just ask if there is a pre approved CLI available if so its done from your most recent SP. Good luck
Thanks again for everyone's helpful suggestions! I tried calling them this evening to inquire about the soft inquiry pull, but unfortunately, they said the only way to proceed with the CLI was to do a HP, so I politely declined, and thanked them for their time and consideration.
Just out of sheer curiosity, since they had also said it had been a while since FNBO had reviewed my credit profile (hence the need for a prospective HP), you don't think they might possibly do a soft pull on me (on their end), that could potentially result in CLD/RJ/AA/FR (hopefully not)? I know that issuers were big on AA just for calling them and/or asking for better terms, CLI, etc., around the time of CARD Act, just for even asking?
Just got a cli from them last month. They had written a letter commenting on how well the account was handled by paying more than the minimum. Took a hp for an increase. They increased it from $1300 to $1650 when I requested $2600 but utilization on the credit reports was close to 40% at the time and that was the reason for the smaller increase. Had the account since September.

Ouch, a HP for a $250 increase. Should have been a SP.
Do not take this the wrong way but I think you are being PARANOID lol. Calling in to ask questions about your account is not going to get any Adverse Action. The AA's now days are almost ALL computer generated decisions. If they do AA you close the account after paying off the balance. I would never do biz with any card issuer who does not value me. I am there customer. They are not mine.
Call and and ask for a exception from there EO or a supervisor just keep it professional. The worst thing they can say is "NO". Why do people like bow down and grovel to these big banks? You are there customer. They should bow down to you not the other way around.
