Have you tried calling customer service? I always call to check for upgrades. I had a Platinum and QS1. I called in April and upgraded them both although the site said I had no offers. I upgraded the Platinum to a no fee QS. I upgraded my QS1 to a no fee Venture One.
Unfortunately calling Cap One yields no different results than using the /productupgrade link.
OP it may well be in your best interest to close the QS1 and try for the Venture, though there'd be no guarantee you'd be approved even if you did close the QS1. Also keep in mind if and when you do close it, you have to wait a few months before trying for the new card. Also, they may STILL deny you for having too many Cap One cards, as there's been mixed results of some people only being able to have 2 cards, while others can have 3 (cobrands such as Walmart don't count).
To quote someone, hit the blue "Quote" button on the top right of the Reply to Message screen before typing your response.
Finally, closing a card doesn't hurt your credit age. It'll remain closed as an account in good standing for up to 10 years.
