I called yesterday and the CSR said there is a hard pull for every single app and one for the account so thats why I didnt go for it. I really feel like I have too many inquiries and want to let them fall off first.

Hi ghgirll123!

I know this goes against conventional wisdom because of everything we read on these forums but in the long run it will likely help you very much to go ahead and get in with NFCU.  They are not inq sensitve as most lenders and I suspect that you will likely qualify for some of their products now.  NFCU products typically grow with you fast and I doubt you will regret the decision.  Smiley Happy  I am a member of several CUs and NFCU has been the easiest to work with.  I say go for it.  Just my 2 cents.

I scream at the computer monitor everytime I read something like this and look at a signature line with (sorry but crap cards) and you don't move forward with the BEST credit union available that you have access with because of INQ's!!!

you need to rethink this and go join and apply now!

damn work keep getting in the way of my forum time.

OK i found what i needed and decided to wait on everything until my cards age a bit...

 pre spree scores

 TU 706

 EQ 697

 EX 686

 AAoA 5 years

 spree 10-10-14

 PRG

 CSP 5k

 USAA 7k

 QS 3k

 Overstock 4.3k

 post spree scores

 TU 697

 EQ 667

 EX 662

 AAoA 3 years

2010 fed tax lien is only baddie which i'm paying off monthly and would like help from a decent CU to finance the PIF to avoid some interest/penalties.

It doesnt make sense to do anything right now so I will wait until my scores bounce back to even "join". I need decent APR on anything I get from NFCU and don't want to end up in some bucket or anything. I want it ALL when i join.  :]   then i will trade in 2 CU's and a local bank for NFCU.

Is this the best way to aproach?

Re: Best way to jump on NFCU?

OP, get it now! Waiting will not make a difference with them you will get approved and you will get a CLI in a few months.
The only thing you do by waiting is you lose out on AAoA and the inquiry will be on longer.
Do it now!

Re: Best way to jump on NFCU?

I would at the very least take the HP to join. Get in there, Give em your 5 bucks and get an account opened up. Then decide if you want to garden or go for it.

NFCU Visa 43k | NFCU Platinum 37k | Cap1 QS 13K | Cap1 QS 12.5K | Barclay MC 25k | Delta Gold Amex 40K | Discover IT 22K | CFNA FS 3600 | CareCredit 20k| PayPal Credit 10k |

I agree... you might see a pre-approved offer a day after opening... either way with approvals in the $7k range with other banks I would expect navy to go $15k+

not to mention in as little as 3 months you could be doing CLI's on anything they give you now.

and the $15k navcheck is almost a gaurantee for you.

CreditAddict, don't mean to hijack this thread but I don't want to run thru 250 pages of the NFCU CLI thread.  I see you always mention requesting CLIs to $25,000.  What happens after that point?
