I've been using my BoA Accelerated Cash Rewards Amex card for the 1.25% for all purchases not eligible for rewards on my other cards, but I recently discovered the "Capital One Cash" card that essentially gets you 1.5% on any purchase. I'm 24 and have pretty good credit, as I've been actively working on it for years now. I genuinely thought I was going to get it, but I didn't get instantly approved. I know this isn't a sure sign I didn't get it, but it's never a good thing and usually means you didn't. What brought me here was to ask about whether or not I should have answered, "No" when they ask, "Do you plan on paying off the card each month?" I know it's good practice to, but that obviously nets the issuer less money. If I get the letter in the mail informing me I was declined, should I fib on that one next time I apply for it 6 mos. from now? Do you guys think I could apply for it sooner?
I not too sure what to answer I think thats mainly to let them know if your intrested in promotions such as no intrests for the first year
Just curious before you applied for capital one did you try the pre qualifier or did you just app for the card?
I just applied. I'm not sure what you're referring to honestly.
I got an application for their normal cash rewards card, where it's 2% on gas and something else. I don't need that, cause one of my other cards gives the same thing. I don't currently have a Master Card though, and that 1.5% would be awesome.
I would pretty much use it for anything that my other cards don't cover rewards-wise. I may still use the Amex on international purchases too, as it doesn't charge fees for that. I would have to call Capital One and ask them about that once I finally get it.
I guess I am refering to the see if your prequalified link on this page

On the left hand side
I just took it, and it showed me the exact card I applied for at the top.
Do you know whether it actually parses any specific personal or credit info. when it runs the test, or is it more just a way of sorting the cards?
depends on the wording
I got just now:
we couldn't match your records to a card offerBut based on your answers, we think you might like this card.
biut if it finds you with pre qualified than yes 85% chance you will get it imho
Ah, yeah, I got the same thing.
"[name], we couldn't match your records to a card offer ... But based on your answers, we think you might like this card."
I just thought I would add that I did end up getting approved for the card. I now have every cash rewards card I want. =)
I know that HSBC is a subprime card, but they offer a 2% cash back Mastercard that I use for everything I can.
There is a $39 annual fee, but I don't pay interest on it (ever) and generally get 6 $25 cash back checks a year.
