Bettering chance of CC approval via new checking acct. ?!?!?

Will opening a checking account at a prospectful CC better my chances at getting a CC ? Specifically BOA, or Chase. I have a BK, 10 years next October. Scores around 730 at the moment. I currently have 2 CapOne cards and a Discover card. I want one more prime. Preferably BOA or Chase. I don't remember which one of the two, but I recall one them asks when you apply if you already 'have an account with us'. Any thoughts. Thank you.

In my personal experience Chase is a relationship bank. If you have a banking relationship you will more easily be able to secure a credit relationship.

Wells Fargo is like that too. Not sure about BoA, but something tells me no for them, same with Citi. I could be wrong.

AMEX BCP $35k | Citi Double Cash $30k | PenFed PlatRewards $25k | Barclaycard $40k | Chase Freedom $25k | BofA Cash Rewards $40K | US Bank Cash+ $4500 | Discover IT $25k | NASA Platinum-Advantage $40k | CapOne Quicksilver $15k | Amazon Card $10k | Ten years on myFICO from 510 to 780 scores

Citi and Chase will take good checking/savings relations into account on CC apps.

Agreed. I'm doing pretty well w/approvals lately, but i'm sure it's NO coincidence that my CSP approval has something to do with the amount of money that goes through our Chase accts monthly.

Bank of america is the one you are talking about. When I had a bank of america credit card I had a checking account with them.

I am not sure if a checking relationship with a small deposit will really be helpful? If you can deposit a larger sum then I could imagine that this could  be beneficial. Years back I did get my very first credit card (unsecured) from BofA with absolutely no credit history coming to the US from Europe. I am grateful that BofA was willing to take a chance on me when all the other major banks denied me.

It can help, depending on creditor, but don't count on it to overcome any issues with your credit.  If you have derogs get them addressed.  If you have utilization that is out of control then get it in check and so on and so on.

How so?  How did you establish causality?

Are those approvals only Chase approvals?

Re: Bettering chance of CC approval via new checking acct. ?!?!?

BofA can care less about checking account and relationship.   I recently closed my BofA account I had for about 10 years and they asked why, I said I have no need for a bank that I have been with for 10 years to not offer me any credit product and another bank I use does.   While I was closing my account it magically popped up and the rep said wow you are Pre-Approved for a credit card, would you like to accept.  I kindly said no and continue to close the account please.   Guessing it was an attempt at retention since I kept about 6k in that account, not alot, but enough.
