FWIW, I applied on a whim almost a month ago after reading a few people talking about it here. After apping, it said I needed to call and verify information...I said screw it since I didn't see any HP pop up anywhere. Well here we are almost a month later and I got an email today saying I'd get a card in the mail within the next 5-10 days (without ever calling or verifying anything!) I actually had totally forgotten about it. I logged on and see a 5K starting limit and an electronic card that can be used immediately. Does anyone know if that card # is the actual number of the physical card that will be sent to me?
One other question - has anyone tried to add an AU? Do they allow this? I didn't see anywhere on the website to add any.
I may actually test the waters out with this, since I have some taxes that I am going to pay off that I was just going to send a check for - but since there are several electronic tax services that charge 1.87%, what the heck. I'll actually make .13% by using it, and get 6 months of free interest to boot.
Looks like they also allow Android Pay, which I haven't tested out yet. Maybe I'll give that a shot tonight since I've got the electronic card.
The digital card is an actual representation of the physical card they will send in the mail. Same account number and CVV number and everything. AFAIK, they don't have AUs. I have an iPhone and my card works fine with Apple Pay, so I'd assume Android Pay should work without issue.
Well, I did try adding it to android pay and it said to call and verify (go figure). For a company that wants to be entirely digital (so to speak), they sure do want to talk to you on the phone a lot.
Also, my main reason for disliking the card is the lack of being able to add it as an account in Mint Bills and/or Credit Karma. We have a ton of cards that I keep in rotation (PIF) but I do keep track of all the pay dates and balances using a combo of those two. That and not having an autopay feature really scares me. Seems like it could be easily forgotten (maybe that's what they're hoping?) Regardless, I'll try it with the tax payment and pay it off immediately. I do like the immediate 2% cash back and possibility of a hidden TL, I guess the verdict is still out on this one.
