BoA $2K secured

I've had my $2k secured BoA CC since February of 2017.  Never late.  Account open 2/28/17.  1 day late on 6/7/17...$25 LF.  $3.35 over limit in 8/17.  3 days late in 9/17.  $25 LF.  19.00 over limit in 9/17.  Curious if this thing will ever graduate?  Credit limit increase link has showd up.  Not sure if it has always been there or not.  What should I do?  Anything I can do?  What can I expect?

Hi! If I were you, I wouldn’t do anything except try to have a solid 6 months (12 would be better) of solid usage and timely payment history. Show that you can use your secured card responsively before asking them to unsecure it.

You don’t have lates that report to the credit bureaus, but you do have “lates” when it comes to the payment agreement you have with BOA and that’s not really responsible.

Regarding going over your limit a couple times, I’m not sure if that helps or hurts a CLI request. Do they do CLI on secured cards? Wouldn’t you have to put up more money to increase (secure) the new limit? I’m sure others will chime in and advise you.

Yes, you'll have to add money to it in order to increase the limit. 

OP - Are you carrying a balance on the card?

If you have it showing, the account might insecure then when you click it. It did for me.

Yes.  In the beginning no balance.  Then it creeped up to close to the credit limit for a couple months.  Now the 2k limit is at about $300.

Yes.  There is a request a CLI link in the account info screen.  When I increase, it asks from where I would like to take my increased deposit!

When I click the CLI link, it asks me for additional deposit and from where to pull the deposit.

To be honest I doubt it will unsecure anytime soon as you are making late payments and show bad credit behavior.   A few late payments along with over the limit isn't a good mix.  Best of luck on your credit journey.
